Shift Manager / Shift Leader (m/f/d)

Straßwalchen, Salzburg - Full-time - Immediate start

When the shift begins, you are the central point of contact: You will lead the team in our sorting center in Straßwalchen and be responsible for ensuring that every package is sorted on time and sent out for delivery.

BSS Logistik is one of Austria's leading parcel logistics companies. At eleven locations in Vienna, Lower and Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Styria, and northern Burgenland, over 300 employees handle around 21 million packages per year. As a shift leader, you will manage the entire process of your shift - from incoming goods through sorting to handover for delivery. You will schedule the team, keep an eye on key figures, and make decisions when things get tight. This is not a desk job: You are where the people and packages are. Your tasks:

• Leading your shift team: You will assign employees based on shipment volume, set priorities together with them, and ensure that everyone knows what they need to do. You will also be responsible for working hours and overtime management.
• Managing the sorting process: From incoming goods to handover for delivery, you will keep the process under control so that shipments are delivered on time and in full on their routes.
• Monitoring key figures: You will track operational figures during ongoing operations and identify deviations early enough to take corrective action - whether due to staff shortages, peak volumes, or technical disruptions.
• Standards and safety: You will ensure that work in your shift is carried out according to agreed processes and address any violations of safety regulations.
• External interface: For any clarifications needed during ongoing operations, you will coordinate with clients and delivery partners and find practical solutions.
• Liaison with site management: You will keep them informed about the shift's progress, any anomalies, and performance, and act as their deputy when they are not on site.

Your profile: Technical skills

• Experience in logistics, production, retail, or a comparable operational environment
• Initial leadership experience - as a foreman, team leader, or deputy
• An understanding of key figures and what they indicate about ongoing operations
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
• Fluent German, English skills are an advantage

• Decisiveness and the ability to maintain an overview, even when multiple things require attention simultaneously
• Clear communication with the team, partners, and clients
• Hands-on mentality: When things get tough, you are on the floor, not in the office
• Reliability that the team and site management can count on

Salary:

• The collective agreement minimum salary for this position is EUR 37,289 gross per year.
• We offer a market-competitive gross salary starting from EUR 40,000 gross per year. Depending on qualifications and experience, we will provide a corresponding overpayment.
