Service Technician Chain & Rigging

Full Time

Job description

Introduction

We’re seeking a reliable and outgoing Service Technician to join an Auckland-based Chain & Rigging operation with a great Kiwi company.

This is an active, on-the-road role ideal for someone who enjoys blending hands-on technical work with building strong customer connections in the lifting and safety equipment industry.

About the Role:

You will drive a purpose-built mobile service vehicle to customer sites across Auckland, providing expert testing, certification, maintenance, and repairs for lifting gear and height safety equipment. You’ll play a key part in helping customers stay compliant while spotting opportunities to support their needs with our full range of products and services.

Day-to-day, you’ll take ownership of your customer route, deliver professional on-site service, keep equipment registers up to date, and ensure every visit leaves customers confident in their safety compliance. You’ll also promote our on-site testing service and look for ways to grow the business through great service and product recommendations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform on-site testing, certification, repairs, and servicing of lifting and height safety equipment
  • Manage and operate a fully equipped mobile workshop van
  • Schedule and conduct regular customer visits to maintain strong relationships and compliance
  • Identify and convert sales opportunities for additional products and services
  • Maintain accurate customer records, lifting registers, stock levels, and invoicing
  • Deliver high standards of customer service while meeting team and individual goals
  • Uphold rigorous health, safety, and quality standards at all times

What We’re Looking For:

  • Solid hands-on mechanical, trade, or servicing background (highly valued, but not essential – attitude matters most)
  • A proactive, positive, and self-starting approach with strong reliability
  • Natural customer service skills and the ability to build trust with clients
  • Clear communicator comfortable working autonomously and within a team
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting (full training provided)

For You:

  • Your own fully equipped mobile service vehicle
  • Thorough training and continuous technical support
  • A varied role that mixes technical work with meaningful customer interaction
  • Strong potential for long-term career development

If you’re a practical, customer-focused technician who takes pride in delivering quality service and enjoys being out in the field, we’d like to hear from you.

Please send your CV and a brief note telling us why you’re interested in this opportunity.
