Senior/Mid Software Engineer Java Upgrade - fixed term contract (12 months)

The Squiz product team is working to deliver a cloud-based Digital Experience Platform (DXP) with several core capabilities including Content Management, Optimisation tooling, AI Conversation and Platform services. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering team on a fixed-term basis, with a focus on uplifting our Search capability. The focus for this role will be driving a large scale Java version upgrade for our Funnelback product. We’re location-flexible! This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the world, however, you will need to be available during standard Australian business hours. What you'll do: * Lead the Java version upgrade project for Funnelback. * Collaborate with other engineers to understand project requirements and technical challenges. * Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code. * Write clean, well-documented code and contribute to technical documentation. * Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers. * Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering best practices. * Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues. * Work with Product Owners, Architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical solutions. * Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies. What you'll bring: * Strong experience in Java development, with a deep understanding of Java versions and upgrades. * Experience with Funnelback or similar search engine technologies is highly desirable. * Experience with large-scale software projects and complex systems. * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Experience with Agile development methodologies. * Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). * Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. * Experience with Spring Framework. * Experience with RESTful APIs. * Experience with Databases (SQL, NoSQL). * Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
