Job description

Ambition
You ensure that it happens outdoors. Safely, according to agreement, and with a team that knows what it needs to do.

As a senior site manager for cables & pipelines, you work on underground infrastructure around the railway and at stations throughout the Netherlands. You manage site managers, skilled workers, and subcontractors, keep multiple interests in balance, and ensure that work continues. Even when the schedule changes or the situation outdoors turns out to be different than expected. You will deal with, among other things, telecommunications, data, electricity cables, and fiber optics. Work where safety, good coordination, and the right decision at the right time make the difference.

What you will do
You ensure that it happens outdoors. Safely,
according to agreement, and with a team that knows what it needs to do. As a site manager for cables & pipelines, you manage employees, specialists, and subcontractors and maintain control over planning, quality, and costs.

You work on underground infrastructure within our rail projects, such as telecommunications, data, electricity cables, and fiber optics. You manage one or more projects simultaneously and maintain an overview, even if things don't go as planned. You will:

  • manage and motivate your team, with clear agreements and room for craftsmanship;

  • prioritize safety and encourage colleagues to share risks and improvements;

  • plan and adjust, set priorities, and make decisions when necessary;

  • monitor quality and costs, including additional and reduced work;

  • liaise with stakeholders, from your team and colleagues to ProRail, public transport companies, and network operators;

  • drive improvements by looking critically, listening, and turning good ideas into action.

You don't have to be right next to everything yourself. But when it matters, you know what's happening outside, you're there, and you make a decision.

Dura Vermeer is an independent family business. And you notice that. In how we collaborate, look out for each other, and build with an eye for future generations. Since 1855, we have been building the Netherlands, in residential construction, utility construction, infrastructure, and technology. Our independence and long-term vision form the basis for this. With a turnover of € 2.6 billion and over 3,700 colleagues, we are among the top of the Dutch construction sector. But ultimately, it's not about those numbers for us. It's about people. About colleagues who work together on projects you're proud of – iconic and close by – and contribute to solutions for societal issues.

Our ambitions are high. And we only achieve them with engaged people. That's why we invest in good employer practices and a work environment where you feel at home. Where you can be yourself, feel safe, and speak your mind. So that you get the best out of yourself and achieve more together with us.

What we expect from you
You are an experienced site manager who maintains an overview and communicates clearly. You know when to give space and when you are the one who needs to make a decision. For this role, you bring:

  • relevant experience with the preparation and execution of underground infrastructure projects;

  • experience in managing employees, specialists, and subcontractors;

  • a technical background, for example from civil engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering;

  • a sharp eye for safety, quality, planning, and costs;

  • the ability to remain calm, set priorities, and make decisions;

  • the communication skills to bring different parties together;

  • willingness to work when rail work requires it, including outside regular working hours.

We don't expect you to solve every problem yourself. But we do expect you to ensure that problems are brought to the table, the right people are involved, and a decision is ultimately made.

Why Dura Vermeer Rail Infrastructure?
Here you get the space to practice your profession and take responsibility
. You organize your work with a lot of independence and get opportunities to further develop yourself through training.

And you're not just working on cables and pipelines. Your work is part of rail projects where different technical disciplines come together. This requires collaboration, foresight, and decision-making when things outside don't go as planned.

Safe working is paramount. In how you organize the work, manage your team, and the choices you make outside.
