Senior Tooling Engineer

About the Company

Collis de México is looking for a Senior Tooling & Stamping Engineer to lead tooling projects, support new product launches, and continuously improve the performance of our manufacturing operations.

About the Role

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in metal stamping dies, capable of solving complex technical challenges, optimizing production processes, and collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• New Product Introduction (NPI)
• Lead tooling activities for new product launches.
• Analyze customer drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturability.
• Coordinate prototypes, die trials, and production validations.
• Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.

• Tooling & Stamping Engineering
• Design, modify, validate, and optimize metal stamping dies.
• Support progressive and non-progressive die applications.
• Improve tooling performance, quality, productivity, and availability.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Support preventive maintenance programs, die repairs, and modifications.
• Implement improvements that reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency.

• Customer and Supplier Management
• Work directly with tooling suppliers for the development and validation of new dies.
• Act as a technical reference for manufacturability and engineering changes.
• Track schedules, supplier performance, and tooling costs.
• Participate in audits, technical reviews, and customer meetings.

• Continuous Improvement
• Lead Kaizen, SMED, and process improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Analyze tooling performance and implement sustainable improvements.
• Support engineering changes and optimization of existing products.

Qualifications

• Education Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in metal stamping dies.
• Proven experience working with progressive and/or non-progressive dies.
• Experience in die design, modification, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of stamping, bending, wire forming, welding, and metal fabrication processes.
• Advanced interpretation of blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications.
• Experience leading technical projects and improvement activities.

Technical Requirements

• Advanced SolidWorks (mandatory).
• Advanced AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Experience in troubleshooting, tooling optimization, and continuous improvement.

Languages

• Advanced English (mandatory).
• Ability to participate in technical meetings with international clients and suppliers.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in the automotive, HVAC, appliance, or industrial manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
• Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
• Relationship with international clients and suppliers.
• Knowledge of Mastercam.
