Senior Tester - Cross Border Payments

Your Skills

• 7–13 years of overall professional experience, including at least 8 years of experience specifically in Banking / Payments Testing for financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of cross border payment lifecycles, correspondent banking processes, and the behaviour of payments across multiple international networks.
• Hands-on experience working with SWIFT MT messages, including MT103, MT202, MT202COV, MT199, and MT910/940/950, in a testing or validation capacity.
• Exposure to ISO 20022 (MX) messages, with the ability to understand and validate MX-based payment formats and mappings where required.
• Strong SQL skills, including ORACLE SQL, with experience using PL/SQL and TSQL for backend, data, and accounting validation activities.
• Practical experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, ALM, and Azure DevOps, including defect lifecycle and test reporting.
• Knowledge of cross border networks such as SWIFT, SEPA, TARGET2, CHAPS, and RTGS, as well as accounting concepts including Nostro/Vostro and suspense accounts.
• Familiarity with SWIFT Alliance Access / Lite2 or similar payment gateways, Postman, SOAP UI, and Unix/Linux command line tools in a testing context.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in collaborative environments.
• Ability to work effectively in high-volume, time-critical payment environments, demonstrating leadership and mentoring skills within the testing team.

What You Will Do?

• Execute end-to-end Banking / Payments Testing for cross border payment lifecycles, including correspondent banking flows across multiple networks and systems.
• Design, execute, and document test cases for SWIFT MT messages, including MT103, MT202, MT202COV, MT199, and MT910/940/950 message types.
• Perform backend and accounting validation using strong SQL skills, ensuring accurate processing of Nostro/Vostro and suspense account entries.
• Utilize defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, ALM, and Azure DevOps to log defects, track resolution, and maintain test traceability.
• Conduct interface and API testing using tools such as Postman and SOAP UI, validating message transformations and integrations with payment gateways.
• Work with SWIFT Alliance Access / Lite2 or equivalent payment gateways to validate end-to-end processing across cross border networks like SWIFT, SEPA, TARGET2, CHAPS, and RTGS.
• Apply knowledge of FX processing, liquidity management, and settlement risk to design relevant test scenarios, identify defects, and support risk mitigation.
• Use Unix/Linux command line tools and database tools such as PL/SQL and TSQL to analyze logs, extract test data, and support root-cause analysis.

Cross Border Payment Tester

For a leading organization in the banking and payments sector in Auckland, Adecco is recruiting an experienced Cross Border Payment Tester. In this role, you will focus on validating complex cross border payment lifecycles, including correspondent banking flows, across multiple international payment networks.
