Deliver Mission-Critical Airport Automation Systems
This is a senior, technically hands-on systems engineering role supporting live airport operations, working across Airport Management Systems (AMS) and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS). You will design, deliver, and support complex automation and control systems in a high-availability, safety-critical environment.

This role will appeal to experienced engineers who have worked with airport systems, conveyor-based automation, or large-scale logistics environments, and who enjoy solving real-world operational challenges.

About the Role Reporting to the Team Lead, you will be accountable for delivering complex automation and control solutions safely, reliably, and on time. You will work closely with airport stakeholders, operations teams, and delivery engineers to refine scopes, design systems, and ensure seamless integration into existing airport infrastructure.

We have multiple roles and so depending on your background, you will focus on one of the following streams:

Airport Management Systems (AMS):

• System integration across airport operational systems
• Strong experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Ignition, and MODBUS TCP/RTU
• Supporting real-time monitoring, control, and operational visibility

Baggage Handling Systems (BHS):

• Control systems for conveyor-based baggage handling
• Strong experience with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
• Background in airports, logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing conveyor systems
• Involvement in commissioning, fault-finding, and system optimisation
• This role includes regular night shifts aligned with airport operations

Key Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities across design, delivery, and support phases
• Develop and review system architectures, functional designs, and technical documentation
• Provide technical leadership on Siemens-based automation platforms
• Liaise directly with clients to define and refine scopes of work
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards and best practice
• Ensure delivery meets safety, schedule, budget, and operational requirements

About You
You are a senior automation or systems engineer with direct experience in AMS or BHS environments, and you understand the demands of working in live, high-availability systems.
You will bring:

• Electrical Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years’ experience in industrial automation or control systems engineering
• Proven experience with Siemens automation platforms
• Systems experience in airports, baggage handling, logistics, warehousing, or conveyor-based environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to work confidently in operational, safety-critical environments
• Unrestricted Australian work rights (no sponsorship available)
