Senior System Engineer (m/f/d)

We are currently looking for a Senior System Engineer (m/f/d) for one of our clients.

• Project location: Bonn/Nuremberg

• Period: October 17, 2026 to December 31, 2026

• Work mix: 40 days remote / 5 days on-site

• Important: Remote work only possible in Germany

• Important: Project language in German

• Important: Willingness for Security Clearance Level 2 according to § 9 SÜG Confidential/Sabotage Protection

YOUR MISSION

At our client's site, the firewall is being automated within the environment of a proprietary development. Improvements and applications are being introduced for this purpose.

The tasks in detail:

• Further development of the best-of-breed proprietary development for firewall automation (FWAT)

• Review of the existing architecture and preparation of improvement suggestions

• FWAT is intended to automate the management (requesting, revalidating, deleting) of firewall rules. Corresponding user interfaces are to be further developed, primarily from existing applications.

• The firewall rules are to be stored in a repository for automatic deployment in the cloud. Additionally, algorithms or the preparation of topologies are to be used as a visual representation for optimization. The connection to the applicant must not be lost.

• Handover of the firewall rules to the corresponding deployment agents or processing of their feedback

• Individual tasks will be prepared as Jira stories for self-directed completion by the FWAT project team.

MUST-HAVES FOR THIS POSITION

• at least 2 years in Python / FastAPI - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience with OpenAPI - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience with mermaid - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience with gitlab / CI/CD - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience with nodejs / Vue.js / Vite / tailwindCSS / Material Design - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience with Scrum and Jira - project reference required

• at least 2 years of experience and knowledge in the firewall environment
