A highly respected specialist employment law and litigation firm in central Auckland is seeking a Senior Employment Lawyer to join its dynamic and growing team. Recognised by international legal directories as a market leader in its field, the firm advises a range of high-profile corporate and public sector clients on complex employment and industrial relations matters.
This newly created role sits within a well-resourced and experienced litigation and advisory team. You’ll step into a practice handling high-stakes, often sensitive disputes, acting for major corporates, developers, and senior executives. The work is intellectually stimulating and commercially impactful, with a strong pipeline of both contentious and non-contentious matters. You’ll also provide support on employment issues in corporate transactions and M&A.
You may be a litigator practising in a different area of law and looking for a change. The firm is open to applications from litigators from other practice areas who are keen to transition into employment law.
Key responsibilities include:

Representing clients in employment-related disputes including mediations, investigations, and appearances before the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court
Advising on restructuring, disciplinary processes, performance management, personal grievances, and workplace conflict resolution
Drafting and reviewing employment agreements, contractor agreements, and workplace policies
Advising on health and safety, privacy, discrimination, and compliance matters
Supporting corporate transactions by providing employment law due diligence and advice on employee transfer and integration
Mentoring and supporting junior lawyers as part of a collaborative team environment
Building and maintaining strong client relationships through clear, strategic, and commercially focused advice
