Job description
A highly respected specialist employment law and litigation firm in central Auckland is seeking a Senior Employment Lawyer to join its dynamic and growing team. Recognised by international legal directories as a market leader in its field, the firm advises a range of high-profile corporate and public sector clients on complex employment and industrial relations matters.
This newly created role sits within a well-resourced and experienced litigation and advisory team. You’ll step into a practice handling high-stakes, often sensitive disputes, acting for major corporates, developers, and senior executives. The work is intellectually stimulating and commercially impactful, with a strong pipeline of both contentious and non-contentious matters. You’ll also provide support on employment issues in corporate transactions and M&A.
You may be a litigator practising in a different area of law and looking for a change. The firm is open to applications from litigators from other practice areas who are keen to transition into employment law.

Key responsibilities include:
- Representing clients in employment-related disputes including mediations, investigations, and appearances before the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court
- Advising on restructuring, disciplinary processes, performance management, personal grievances, and workplace conflict resolution
- Drafting and reviewing employment agreements, contractor agreements, and workplace policies
- Advising on health and safety, privacy, discrimination, and compliance matters
- Supporting corporate transactions by providing employment law due diligence and advice on employee transfer and integration
- Mentoring and supporting junior lawyers as part of a collaborative team environment
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through clear, strategic, and commercially focused advice
