For a long-term project with our client in Bern (with remote share), we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) - Python / FastAPI / Kafka.

Your tasks
• Technical leadership of an agile development team without disciplinary responsibility
• Development of modern backend solutions with Python
• Conception, design, and implementation of cloud-native microservice architectures
• Contribution to and further development of the target architecture
• Conducting code reviews and ensuring high quality standards
• Coaching and mentoring of developers in the team
• Definition and establishment of best practices regarding architecture, clean code, testing, and software quality
• Development of performant REST APIs with FastAPI
• Development of event-driven applications with FastStream and Apache Kafka
• Design and implementation of API management concepts
• Deployment and operation of containerized applications on OpenShift and Kubernetes
• Support in the setup and further development of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes
• Close collaboration with system architects and adjacent development teams

Must-have requirements
• At least 8 years of professional experience in professional software development
• Several years of experience as a Senior Developer, Technical Lead, or Lead Engineer
• Excellent knowledge of Python and modern Python frameworks, especially FastAPI
• Experience with FastStream and event-driven architectures
• Very good knowledge in the development and operation of microservices
• Profound experience with Apache Kafka
• Several years of experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift
• Very good knowledge in API management as well as in the design and development of REST APIs
• Experience in the creation and evaluation of software architectures
• Demonstrable experience with code reviews and the establishment of development standards
• Experience with Clean Architecture, Clean Code, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and test automation
• Very good knowledge of Git and modern CI/CD processes
• Experience with agile development methods such as Scrum and Kanban
• Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and a high sense of quality
• Very good German and good English skills
• Technical leadership competence and role model function
• High degree of initiative and responsibility
• Ability to clearly communicate architectural decisions and to establish them within the team
• Enjoyment in passing on knowledge and developing developers professionally
• Structured, solution-oriented, and pragmatic way of working

Nice-to-have requirements
• Experience in the telecommunications environment, especially with OSS/BSS, network management, provisioning, or service orchestration
• Knowledge of TM Forum Open APIs, Open Digital Architecture (ODA), or comparable industry standards
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and DevSecOps
• Knowledge in the area of observability, for example with Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, for example with Terraform or Ansible
