Senior Software Engineer - Python/MongoDB

Overview We're enabling high-performing, rock-solid MongoDB deployments on any cloud or platform our customers choose. We want to create the world's best open source analog to MongoDB Atlas or Amazon DocumentDB, which can be owned, controlled and operated by end-users on their own multi-cloud or on-premise environments. Canonical is looking for an experienced Python developer with a background in MongoDB who will help us to build a fully managed MongoDB solution based on Juju. We're aiming to build a scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solution that simplifies the deployment, management, and scaling of MongoDB clusters. You will be working with a team of experienced engineers in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of our open source project. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, test, and deploy software components for our managed MongoDB solution. * Collaborate with the team to define technical requirements and specifications. * Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code. * Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our codebase. * Troubleshoot and debug issues, providing timely and effective solutions. * Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends. * Contribute to the automation of deployment, monitoring, and scaling processes. Required Skills and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. * 5+ years of experience in software development. * Strong proficiency in Python. * Experience with MongoDB administration, development, and optimization. * Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). * Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). * Experience with DevOps practices and tools. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bonus Points * Experience with Juju and Charm development. * Experience with distributed systems. * Contributions to open source projects. * Experience with other NoSQL databases.
