Senior Software Engineer

216000.00 - 324000.00

Job description

Are you looking for a place where your work truly matters? At CloudFerro, we create technologies used daily by European leaders in science and the space sector – including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR, and EGI. We are looking for an individual who combines very good software engineering skills with architectural thinking and enjoys having a real impact on what and how we build. The ideal candidate can design a solution, discuss architectural trade-offs, prepare a proof of concept, and independently implement key system components – all while still enjoying writing code and staying close to technology. You will have a real impact on the architecture and development of services responsible for Identity & Access Management in CloudFerro's cloud environments. Despite CloudFerro having 300 employees, our department functions in many ways like a startup within a larger organization – a lot is happening, and requirements don't always come in the form of a ready-made specification. We value autonomy, initiative, and a pragmatic approach: we are looking for someone who can ask the right questions, understand a problem, propose a solution, and bring it to production without unnecessary bureaucracy. Senior Software Engineer What will be your responsibilities? Designing and developing the architecture of IAM services. Developing backend components responsible for authentication, authorization, and identity and access management. Designing APIs and integrations between IAM services and other elements of the cloud platform. Designing solutions for multi-tenant environments and large-scale systems. Collaborating with the Product Manager to develop solutions that meet business requirements. Creating prototypes and proofs of concept for new solutions. Developing existing code and implementing new components. Making architectural decisions, considering security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Ensuring code quality through code reviews, automated tests, refactoring, and good engineering practices. Diagnosing complex problems occurring at the intersection of applications, IAM, and cloud infrastructure. Collaborating with other technical teams. Creating and developing documentation and architectural standards. What do we expect from you? Minimum 6 years of experience in software development, including experience in system architecture design. Very good knowledge of Python and experience in developing production backend services. Experience in designing distributed and microservices systems. Practical knowledge of standards and protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, JWT. Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs. Good knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, and cloud environments. Familiarity with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL. Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Ability to make informed architectural decisions and justify the associated trade-offs. Autonomy and responsibility for the solution – from idea and design to a functioning production system. Knowledge of English enabling free work with technical documentation and collaboration in an international environment. A big plus would be: Knowledge of other languages like Java or Go. Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms. Knowledge of RBAC, ABAC, policy engines, and fine-grained authorization models. Familiarity with topics related to MFA, SSO, service accounts, token management, and secrets management. Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Redis, Prometheus/Grafana. Experience in designing IAM solutions for multi-cloud environments or large SaaS/PaaS/IaaS platforms. Practical knowledge of application security and cloud security. Knowledge of OpenStack, including Keystone. In return, we offer you: Real impact on the technological architecture at the company-wide scale. Engineering challenges related to the European space sector. High degree of autonomy and work among experts. An informal and friendly work atmosphere in an office by the Vistula River. Attractive salary, stable employment, and a benefits package (medical care, Multisport, insurance, language lessons).
