Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will further develop our platform across its full breadth. You will work closely with our Product Management and report to the Managing Director.

• Develop Platform Further: You will be responsible for features from the Rails backend, through the REST API, to the Angular frontend, from idea to release.
• Agentic Engineering: You will work daily with coding agents like Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot. You will break down tasks so that agents can reliably implement them, and ensure quality through code reviews and tests.
• Knowledge for Humans and Agents: Together with us, you will build a living knowledge base about code, architecture, and domain expertise that developers and agents can work with equally.
• AI in the Product: You will further develop our Insurgo Agent and other AI features that noticeably relieve brokers of work.
• Integrations: You will handle industry interfaces such as BiPRO and VEMA, email connections, digital mail, and electronic signatures.
• Stable Operation: We release daily. You will help ensure that our platform runs securely, quickly, and reliably.

What You Will Work With

• Multi-tenant SaaS platform, each tenant with its own database schema
• Backend: Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Action Cable
• Frontend: Angular with TypeScript
• API: REST/JSON with OpenAPI and Webhooks, used by our frontend, by customers, and by automations like Zapier
• Mobile: two Flutter apps for iOS and Android
• PostgreSQL, Redis, S3
• Add-ons: Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp Web, Thunderbird, and Missive
• Hosting: AWS in Frankfurt, highly available and GDPR-compliant
• Workflow: Kanban in Jira, Pull Requests and Code Review in Bitbucket, daily releases to staging and production

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

• Senior Experience: You have several years of professional web application development experience and have been responsible for systems in production operation.
• Architecture and System Design: You think in systems, not in individual lines of code. You design multi-tenant SaaS, clean APIs, data models, and background processing in a way that will last long-term.
• Requirements Engineering: You translate business requirements into clear, actionable specifications, for humans as well as for agents.
• Agentic Development: You have understood how to build good software with coding agents. Above all, you can provide the AI with the right context so that it generates good results, and you want to develop modern solutions with it.
• Understand and Evaluate Code: You don't have to write every line yourself, but you understand AI-generated code in Ruby on Rails and Angular with TypeScript and can reliably assess its quality.
• Autonomy: You work in a self-organized and pragmatic way, make decisions, and are willing to forge new paths instead of waiting for tasks.
• Fluent German: You coordinate daily with Product Management and Support and understand the business domain of our customers.
• Strong Plus: Experience in the insurance industry, ideally in the brokerage environment or with interfaces like BiPRO.
• Plus: Experience with Flutter, AWS operations, or integrations like Office add-ins and browser extensions.
