Aufgaben

As Senior Software Engineer for Embedded Systems, you will work with our international customers on challenging embedded-software projects. The projects at IBV are diverse, ranging from the development of individual hardware-near drivers for microcontrollers to communication protocols for industrial fieldbuses up to integration with cloud-based services for IoT projects or the implementation of graphical user interfaces.

Topics we are currently dealing with include, for example, real-time communication in industrial networks with time synchronization in the nanosecond range, heterogeneous processor architectures, and inter-processor communication, efficient recording of high-speed measurement data with limited resources or binding industrial networks to modern x86-based systems with a focus on security and fault-free operation of different data streams.

The software development takes place mainly in C on ARM and x86-based systems, where PowerPC, TriCore, and RISC-V or other architectures can also be used. Multi-threading in POSIX environments or on an RTOS like FreeRTOS, ThreadX, or Zephyr is standard. The development of software for embedded Linux systems, the adaptation of Linux to various SoCs, and the optimization of real-time execution are recurring tasks.

The ability to debug applications at the assembly level is required for various tasks when it comes to the optimal and error-free interaction between hardware and software. Reading schematics, data sheets, and reference manuals is part of daily work. The analysis of different problems requires the use of oscilloscope, logic analyzer, or specialized protocol analyzer.

Due to steadily growing demands in the area of Cyber Security, the use of Secure Boot, the implementation of encrypted communication protocols, and the secure storage of data are included in almost all projects as part of our task spectrum.

As Senior Software Engineer, you will advise our customers on selecting and using suitable technologies.

We are aware that no potential employee can cover all topics equally well. Therefore, it is all the more important for us to have a fundamental interest in exciting technologies and the willingness to deal with new topics.

Qualifikation

• Completed studies in computer science, electrical engineering, or a comparable technical field of study
• Multiple years of experience in hardware-near software development with C and C++
• Experience in software development for embedded Linux or other real-time operating systems (e.g. FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or QNX)
• Experience in software architecture and design
• In-depth technical understanding of the area of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and hardware-near interfaces
• Analytical skills and a systematic, solution-oriented working style, even when dealing with complex problems
• Interest in proactively and quickly getting familiar with new technologies and topics
• Good communication skills in German and English
