Senior SAP WM / HU Consultant - Freelance

For a long-term SAP project at a company in the automotive supplier industry, we are looking for an experienced Senior SAP WM / HU Consultant (Freelance).

The focus of the project is the development of a common HU-WM core for multiple locations. The goal is to map location-specific requirements as far as possible through parameters and standardized processes. Individual developments should only be used where a functional gap compared to the defined core can be proven.

We are therefore looking for an experienced SAP WM expert who is strong in ECC WM and HU customizing, as well as technically hands-on enough to independently implement smaller ABAP/Z adjustments.

• Start: January 2027
• Duration: 12 months, until December 2027
• Contract Type: Freelance / B2B
• Workload: 100 %
• Location: Remote, occasional workshops onsite in Germany
• Region: Preferably Germany, in exceptional cases EU
• Language: German at a very high / fluent level

Responsibilities

• Analysis of existing SAP WM / HU processes and requirements, as well as structured fit-gap assessments
• Concept and customizing of a cross-site SAP ECC WM / Handling Unit core
• Harmonization of local requirements and mapping of location-specific particularities, preferably through parameters rather than custom developments
• Coordination and implementation of integrations with MM, PP, SD, QM, as well as transport and shipment processes
• Integration and adaptation of Mobisys applications, mobile warehouse processes, and labels
• Preparation and support of master data migration, cutover, tests, go-live, and rollouts at multiple locations
• Implementation of smaller ABAP, user-exit, enhancement, and Z developments in the WM / logistics environment
• Structured documentation of customizing, processes, technical adjustments, and design decisions

Requirements

• Several years of in-depth project experience with SAP ERP / R/3 ECC Warehouse Management (WM)
• Very good practical experience with Handling Unit Management (HU) and HU-based warehouse processes
• Proven experience with Mobisys in the SAP warehouse / logistics environment
• Very good knowledge of SAP WM customizing and the concept of standardized warehouse processes
• Good integration knowledge with SAP MM, PP, SD, QM, as well as Transport / Shipment
• Technical hands-on understanding and experience with smaller ABAP / Z developments, enhancements, and interfaces
• Experience with multi-site rollouts, cutover, go-live, and the harmonization of processes across multiple plants or locations
• Very good German language skills as well as a structured, independent, and documentation-strong working style

We are explicitly looking for a hands-on SAP WM / HU Consultant who combines functional process understanding, deep customizing know-how, and sufficient technical competence.

Profiles with a purely conceptual focus or exclusively S/4HANA EWM experience without in-depth practical SAP ECC WM / HU experience are not suitable for this project.
