Senior Rollout Manager (f/m/x) – DACH
Job description
Your mission
IONITY is building and operating a Europe-wide network of high-power charging stations. As a Senior Rollout Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful implementation of several charging locations in the DACH region – from rollout planning and site preparation, through the construction phase, commissioning and acceptance, to handover to Operations. You will translate complex, cross-functional projects into a plannable and reliable rollout of new locations.
The role combines project management, infrastructure development, and stakeholder management. You will coordinate internal teams, authorities, landowners, grid operators, construction companies, installation partners, and specialized partners towards common milestones, decisions, and quality standards. Your work will directly contribute to the growth of the European IONITY network, as well as a reliable charging experience for electric vehicle drivers from all over Europe. Every new charging station resulting from your work accelerates the energy transition and is an important contribution to emission-free mobility.
- You will take holistic responsibility for the implementation of a portfolio of HPC charging locations in the DACH region, with a particular focus on the most complex, riskiest, or strategically most important locations. Throughout the entire project lifecycle, you will manage scope, schedule, dependencies, risk exposure, cost risks, quality, safety, compliance, and operational readiness.
- You will translate rollout goals into integrated site and portfolio implementation plans, define priorities, sequences, milestones, and dependencies, and ensure clear governance – from site development and permit planning, through the construction phase and commissioning, to handover to operations.
- You will lead cross-functional implementation across planning and permitting, construction, grid connection, logistics, etc., drive timely decisions, resolve conflicts, and ensure that critical interfaces between property, civil engineering, electrical engineering, grid connection, charging hardware installation, testing, and commissioning are actively managed.
- You will directly manage external planning offices, contractors, installation companies, and other implementation partners, set clear expectations, monitor performance, manage operational implementation and commercial risks, and ensure that partners deliver the agreed-upon results.
- You will take responsibility for risk, change, and action management of the portfolio, identify critical risks early, define countermeasures, and implement recovery plans for delayed, blocked, or significantly deviating sites. In doing so, you will protect implementation quality, safety, and compliance.
- You will make decisions within your assigned scope of responsibility and decision-making authority and prepare clear decision papers for the Country Manager DACH if escalation is required. You will present viable options, impacts, and recommendations, weighing schedule, costs, quality, technical feasibility, and stakeholder requirements.
- You will build and maintain trusting relationships with authorities, grid operators, landowners, local stakeholders, and implementation partners, professionally represent IONITY in complex discussions, and pragmatically resolve obstacles related to permits, grid connections, land, construction, and other implementation issues.
- You will prepare concise and decision-oriented reports for senior stakeholders, including progress, projected timelines, forecast accuracy, significant risks, cost and commercial risks, partner performance, recovery actions, and the decisions required to keep the portfolio on track.
- You will establish and continuously improve rollout standards, governance routines, templates, and implementation guidelines. Based on lessons learned, you will increase the predictability, quality, scalability, and implementation effectiveness of the rollout across the entire DACH network.
Your profile
- You are a team player and work with a high demand for quality, even under time pressure.
- You have demonstrable experience in leading the implementation of complex infrastructure, construction, energy, mobility, telecommunications, or comparable rollout programs across multiple locations, ideally in the field of HPC charging infrastructure.
- You can demonstrate a track record of taking end-to-end responsibility for implementation across the entire lifecycle – not just for individual project tasks or work packages.
- You have extensive knowledge of program and project management, including integrated planning, risk management, dependency management, change control, and senior-level reporting.
- You have experience in managing external partners and influencing internal stakeholders in a matrix organization. You present yourself confidently, constructively challenge existing approaches, make decisions, and escalate issues when necessary.
- You have a sound practical understanding of the interfaces between site development, permit planning, civil engineering, electrical engineering, grid connection, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- You communicate clearly and structurally in German and English.
- You hold a valid driver's license and are willing to work regularly with teams on-site.
- You have experience in implementing EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy plants, or other decentralized, customer-oriented infrastructure.
- You have established working relationships with authorities, grid operators, landowners, and construction partners in one or more DACH markets.
- You have experience with interfaces to high-voltage or electrical infrastructure, as well as with commissioning and handover into an operational network.
- You have good user knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills, or comparable project management tools.
- You hold a relevant university degree, a technical qualification, or comparable professional experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or a related field.
