Senior Project Manager (m/f/d)

Your Role With Us

You will take over the overarching management of large customer accounts with multiple parallel IT and software development projects. You will be responsible for deadlines, budgets, resources, quality, and risks, and will provide functional leadership to project managers and project teams. Your focus is on robust, cross-project management. You will identify risks and dependencies early and intervene specifically when projects go off track. As a central interface between customers, project teams, and delivery management, you will ensure that complex customer accounts are managed successfully.

Responsibilities

• You will manage large customer accounts with multiple parallel IT and software development projects, keeping an overall eye on deadlines, budgets, quality, and risks.
• You will manage and support the project teams within your account and promote their professional development within the scope of ongoing projects.
• You will implement effective risk management and ensure that risks, dependencies, and escalations are identified, assessed, and addressed early on.
• You will create transparency through key figures, forecasts, status reports, and sound decision-making bases.
• You will manage communication with customers at management level and moderate steering committees as well as critical coordination meetings.
• You will coordinate resources and competencies across projects and set clear priorities.
• You will intervene specifically in endangered projects, stabilize management, and then hand over operational responsibility back to the responsible project manager.
• You will oversee the handover of new projects from sales to delivery and refine scope, expectations, and calculations.
• You will further develop project management standards, methods, and best practices together with Delivery Excellence.

Qualifications

• You have many years of experience in managing complex IT projects, programs, or large customer accounts with multiple parallel projects.
• You have extensive experience in project controlling as well as in budget and forecast management, risk and escalation management.
• You have experience in the functional leadership and development of project managers and interdisciplinary teams.
• You are experienced in managing demanding clients and interacting with management and decision-making levels.
• You are able to quickly grasp critical project situations, initiate appropriate measures, and sustainably stabilize projects.
• You have a solid understanding of software development projects, IT architectures, and modern development processes.
• You think entrepreneurially and understand the economic contexts of IT projects.
• You present yourself confidently and convince with strong communication and moderation skills as well as high decision-making certainty.
• You have very good German language skills, both written and spoken, at least C1 level.

What else makes you stand out

• You have experience in the IT consulting, software development, or IT service environment.
• You have experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Plane, Moco, or comparable tools.
• You hold certifications such as IPMA, PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum, or comparable qualifications.
• You have successfully stabilized critical or escalated IT projects.
• You are interested in current developments in Artificial Intelligence and use modern AI-powered tools to further increase transparency, efficiency, and quality in project and program management.
