Senior Project Manager

Description We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice team and play a key role in our high-performance Project team. Reporting to National Team Lead, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services. Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice that proactively manages and maintains a diverse range of assets across multiple sites. This includes buildings, infrastructure, and equipment. As Senior Project Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and managing projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You'll work closely with stakeholders, including project sponsors, team members, and external partners to ensure successful outcomes. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets • Coordinating and managing project resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment • Identifying and mitigating risks and issues that may impact project delivery • Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and standards • Providing regular progress reports to stakeholders and project sponsors • Collaborating with other teams and departments to ensure effective communication and coordination. The ideal candidate will have: • A degree in Project Management or a related field • At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the public sector • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
