Job Title: Senior Product Compliance Engineer Location: Barrow-In-Furness, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Filton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: Competitive What you’ll be doing: Working as part of an Integrated Development Team, established to develop and deliver submarine systems / capability Specifically focusing on ensuring that Product Safety tasking and activities are delivered, managed and controlled in accordance with company and regulatory requirements and to project timescales. Key Responsibilities: * Provide specialist Product Safety (PS) engineering support to projects, primarily within the submarine domain. * Responsible for the PS aspects of all project phases including design, build, test, commissioning, acceptance and in-service support. * Produce and maintain PS documentation, including PS Management Plans, hazard identification and risk assessments, PS cases, and compliance matrices, in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. * Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, regulatory bodies, and suppliers. * Provide PS advice and guidance to project teams, including the interpretation of regulations, standards, and best practices. * Review and approve project deliverables, including design documentation, test plans, and procedures, to ensure PS compliance. * Participate in PS investigations and incident reviews, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. * Support the development and implementation of PS policies, procedures, and training programs. * Monitor and report on PS performance, including the identification of trends and areas for improvement. Your skills and experience: * A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. electrical, mechanical, systems engineering). * Proven experience in a Product Safety engineering role, ideally within the defence or regulated industry. * Sound knowledge of PS principles, standards, and regulations (e.g. DEF STAN 00-56, IEC 61508, IEC 61511). * Experience of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques (e.g. HAZOP, FMEA). * Experience of developing and maintaining PS documentation. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Knowledge of submarine systems and equipment would be advantageous.
