About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Commissioning Engineer to join our high performing team.

Reporting to the Operations Commissioning Manager, you will provide senior process commissioning leadership across a diverse capital portfolio. This role works to safeguard Watercare’s operational performance through complex capital delivery by leading commissioning governance, overseeing performance verification, and ensuring seamless entry to service. Your expertise will reduce business risk, protect compliance, and optimise long-term treatment performance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading commissioning strategy across multiple concurrent projects.
• Provide independent technical and process expertise during design and construction.
• Lead process performance verification and sign-off.
• Influence design to optimise commissionability.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships across the business.
• Continuously improve commissioning systems, standards, and processes.
• Mentor staff and grow commissioning capability across Watercare and delivery partners.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous industrial commissioning experience.
• Strong understanding of process performance optimisation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of NZ Health and safety legislation, systems, standards and requirements.
• Experience with water and/or wastewater processes is desirable.
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field.
• A full NZ Drivers Licence
