Job description

Your Purpose

We operate our hosting platform on our own hardware and are fundamentally rebuilding it: Kubernetes on Bare Metal, with full responsibility for all layers from the kernel to the platform. You will provide technical direction to your team. Your judgment comes from operations, i.e., from real incidents and customer problems. Based on this, you will make decisions within the team, drive projects forward tangibly, and help your colleagues grow professionally. You have no personnel responsibility, but all the more technical influence.

Your Skills:

  • You lead technically without disciplinary leadership. You make complexity understandable for colleagues at all levels and guide them along the way through feedback, knowledge transfer, and constant sparring.

  • You have a deep mastery of at least one layer, be it Kernel, Storage, Network, or Container Runtime. You understand the others well enough to recognize interactions. You know how Kubernetes runs on your own hardware and what happens when it doesn't.

  • You analyze incidents down to the root cause, identify patterns behind recurring problems, and define sensible monitoring and alerting rules.

  • Software Engineering: You build platform components and automation yourself, ideally in Go, and can technically evaluate the solutions of others.

Challenges we are currently working on:

  • Multi-Tenant Hosting under real load: Thousands of customer workloads share our physical servers – precise resource control (cgroups, namespaces), CPU/memory scheduling, and storage and network performance at the system level are part of everyday life.

  • Automated Node and Cluster Lifecycle: From provisioning hardware, through kernel and runtime updates (CRI-O, crun), to non-disruptive rollouts during operation.

  • Custom Operators and Platform Services: Instead of just connecting managed cloud services, we develop our own Kubernetes controllers, APIs, and integrations with storage and networking (CNI, BGP).

What we offer you:

Depth instead of standard

We work with future-oriented technologies and prefer to build systems ourselves when necessary, rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions. This brings challenges and a technical level that is not everyday and will advance you professionally.

Unmatched Expertise

You will discuss at the highest technical level, share your knowledge, and learn together with other experts. We not only share our expertise internally, but also gladly at conferences, camps, and in the tech community, thus shaping the future of the industry.

We love Tech

You will meet people here who celebrate tech just as much as you do. We live this passion in our daily lives – and beyond. Whether it's open-source commitment, community work, or supporting tech events: we are actively involved and contribute.

Technological Responsibility

Your expertise counts. You shape decisions and don't just stick to the obvious. You will be given the space to implement your ideas, help shape systems, and take responsibility – on an equal footing and with support.

Technology Meets Humanity

Here you will find the coolest colleagues, plenty of humor, and real team spirit. Collaboration is an integral part of our daily business. Even after work, there are plenty of opportunities, whether it's football, Padel, or D&D – whoever wants to join is welcome.

All-round carefree setup

We want you to be really well taken care of here. Free choice of hardware? Check. Standard package of benefits? Of course. Vitamins, caffeine & H2O? Safe. And on top of that: unlimited contract, flexible working hours, 30 vacation days, company pension, training opportunities, and fair salary.

Your tasks:

  • You will lead your team's projects technically and technologically, design new features and stability improvements.

  • You will make architectural decisions together with our system architecture, and you will mutually involve each other early on in all ideas, projects, and change processes.

  • With the PO, you will translate priorities into concrete work packages, assessing effort and risk, and making recommendations.

  • You will stay close to daily operations, be the first point of contact for technical questions for your team, and feed insights from operations back into the architecture.

  • You will maintain the quality standard and adjust when something is not right.
