About the Role and the Team

Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) is a Business Unit of nearly 200 people that continues to strengthen to support Decathlon's tech ambitions. Our main objective is to streamline the technical product catalog and provide turnkey services for IT teams, enabling them to focus on developing features with high application impact.

Within CPE, you will join the Cloud Dev team. Our mission is to provide essential and abstract features for the Cloud, applying best software engineering development practices to unify, secure, and optimize our platforms.

You will join a human-sized team composed of passionate engineers. We are fans of software development, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps/SRE culture, automation, technological watch... and of course, sports!

Scope and Missions of a Platform Engineer

As a Platform Engineer, you will play a central role in empowering development teams through platform engineering. Your missions will revolve around the following pillars:

1. Software Engineering & Cloud Abstraction

• Use best development practices (Software Engineering, Software Architecture) to design clean, robust, and maintainable code, creating abstraction layers above the Cloud.
• Develop and industrialize APIs, internal tools, and infrastructure modules in Python and Go.
• Consume and orchestrate Serverless services (Google Cloud Functions, Google Workflows) and modernize deployment tooling.

2. Infrastructure as Code & DevSecOps Automation

• Design, test, and deploy infrastructure consistently and automatically with Terraform.
• Build and optimize modern CI/CD pipelines (preferably with GitHub Actions) integrating DevSecOps security standards from the design phase.
• Automate recurring tasks through scripting (Python, Bash) to reduce manual effort and maximize reliability.

3. Cross-functional Integration & Operational Excellence

• Collaborate closely with Network, Security, and Database teams to ensure smooth, performant, and secure integrations.
• Run Captain Role: take charge of level 2/3 support, incident analysis, and service request processing to ensure operational stability.
• Contribute to defining and meeting SLO/SLI, as well as to the MTTR reduction process by automating the resolution of recurring problems.

4. Support, Sharing & Product Culture

• Write clean technical documentation and user guides to facilitate the adoption of platform services.
• Raise awareness and train technical teams on best practices for using developed components.
• Participate in collective animation through agile management of our deliverables in JIRA and promote knowledge sharing within the team.

What you will need to succeed

• Experience & Dev: At least 3 years of experience in Python development with a solid command of modern software engineering practices.
• Cloud Expertise: Strong skills and proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Mastery of Terraform and very good practice of CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitHub Actions).
• Scripting & Serverless: Good knowledge of automation (Python, Bash) and Serverless/event-driven architecture.
• Soft Skills & Team Spirit: Excellent interpersonal skills, strong sense of internal customer/user satisfaction, rigor in documentation, and ease in solving complex problems.
• Languages: Fluent English, both spoken and written, B2 level minimum.
• A plus: Knowledge of the Go language, use of Google Workflows, or a GCP certification (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Developer).
