Job description
Do you enjoy ensuring that payroll is processed on time and functions efficiently, digitally, and legally across a growing group of companies? Then we are looking for exactly you, to start as soon as possible as:
Senior Payroll / Payroll Accountant (m/f/d) in Berlin or Recklinghausen (NRW)
As a Senior Payroll / Payroll Accountant (m/f/d), you will take on a central role within our Payroll team and, together with Laura, our Lead Payroll, will be responsible for payroll processing for Arsipa Holding and our more than 20 subsidiaries. Together with the Payroll team, you will ensure that our payroll processing for over 1,000 employees is carried out reliably, legally compliant, and efficiently, and you will continuously develop our payroll processes. We need your support for this!
The Arsipa Group is a rapidly growing, PE-backed group of companies in the Health, Safety & Environment sector, supported by Warburg Pincus. With over 1,000 employees, 20+ subsidiaries, and 90 locations in Germany and Austria, we are building a scalable platform with sustainable value creation as part of a clear buy-and-build strategy. Our goal: to become one of the leading providers in the German-speaking market – supported by central functions such as Finance, People, Marketing, and IT at the Berlin location.
Your Tasks:
Payroll & Payroll Processing:
Independent processing of monthly payroll for defined companies within the Arsipa Group using DATEV Lohn & Gehalt.
Ensuring timely, correct, and legally compliant payroll processing for Arsipa Holding and our over 20 subsidiaries.
Handling payroll tax, social security, and payroll-relevant issues.
Creation of certificates, reports, and other payroll-relevant analyses and documents.
Payroll Operations & Collaboration:
Point of contact for employees, managers, and our colleagues from People Operations in all payroll-related matters.
Communication and coordination with health insurance companies, social security institutions, authorities, and other external bodies.
Close collaboration with Laura, our Lead Payroll, and colleagues within our Payroll and People team.
Support with group-wide payroll topics within our corporate group.
Processes, Digitalization & Harmonization:
Active participation in the further development and harmonization of our payroll processes across the entire corporate group.
Identification and implementation of optimization potential within existing payroll workflows.
Involvement in digitalization projects and the further development of our payroll system landscape with DATEV Lohn & Gehalt and Personio.
Support in building scalable payroll structures within a rapidly growing corporate group.
Your Starting Requirements:
What you bring:
Several years of professional experience in independent payroll processing, as well as in-depth knowledge of payroll tax, social security, and employment law, practical experience with DATEV Lohn & Gehalt, and confident handling of digital payroll processes.
A successfully completed commercial apprenticeship, ideally with further training in payroll accounting, certified HR specialists, or a comparable qualification.
A structured, independent, and meticulous way of working, as well as a high degree of quality awareness.
Strong service orientation and enjoyment of collaborating with employees, managers, and internal departments. You communicate confidently in German.
This will help you succeed faster:
Experience with Personio or comparable HR systems is an advantage.
Experience in harmonizing, standardizing, or digitizing payroll processes is desirable.
An understanding of multi-entity, buy-and-build, or dynamically growing corporate structures is helpful.
Experience in collaborating with multiple companies and various internal and external stakeholders is an advantage.
Our Benefits:
Attractive Work Environment: An unlimited employment contract in a crisis-proof and sustainably growing corporate group, 30 days of annual leave, half an extra day off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and a hybrid setup with one home office day per week. Your workplace is located in our centrally located office in 45659 Recklinghausen.
Strong Team Culture: An open and appreciative corporate culture with regular stand-ups, monthly all-hands meetings, and joint events to foster a positive and collegial working atmosphere.
Responsibility & Scope for Initiative: Active involvement in shaping and further developing our group-wide payroll processes, as well as the opportunity to drive digitalization and harmonization sustainably.
