Senior Packaging Designer

Full Time

Job description

Why This Role Exists

In the world of food and beverage, packaging is the product. The colors, textures, and labels are what tell the story before the customer ever takes a sip or a bite.

We’re looking for a Packaging Designer + Project Manager who owns that story from start to finish—someone who thrives at the intersection of design, precision, and process. You’ll manage every technical detail that takes a design from concept to print—accurately, proactively, and without needing reminders.

You’ll be joining a boutique branding agency specializing in food and beverage packaging (CPG), managing multi-SKU projects across multiple printers. It’s a fast-moving role that blends production design precision with organized project coordination to ensure every packaging file is compliant, consistent, and press-ready.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Print Process: Prepare and finalize multi-SKU packaging files for print across various printers, ensuring accuracy and consistency every time.
  • Handle Production Mechanics: Manage Illustrator files, dielines, bleeds, color checks, and prepress exports according to printer specifications.
  • Keep Projects Moving: Maintain a SKU tracker in Google Sheets and post progress updates in Basecamp—short, clear, and actionable.
  • Ensure Visual Consistency: Apply approved design changes precisely and make sure all packaging within a product family matches perfectly.
  • Communicate Like a Pro: Keep teams informed with proactive updates like “Here’s what changed” or “Here’s what I need next.”
  • Maintain Order: Oversee file versioning, naming conventions, and asset organization across digital and print deliverables.
  • Support Creative Flow: Help organize and prepare all assets for print and digital use, keeping everything accessible and ready for the next launch.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Deep, hands-on experience in packaging production—not just digital or conceptual design.
  • Adobe Illustrator power user with comfort using Acrobat for preflight checks.
  • Strong understanding of dielines, bleeds, print resolution, and prepress processes.
  • Experience working in Google Sheets and maintaining organized file systems.
  • Skilled in silhouetting images, managing print-ready artwork, and ensuring consistency across dozens (or hundreds) of SKUs.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication—clear, upbeat, and client-friendly.
  • Traits that define you: meticulous, fast, organized, and self-driven. You take ownership and thrive on checking things off the list.

Why This Role Matters

Every package that goes out the door represents a brand’s promise—and you’re the one who makes sure that promise is printed perfectly.

You’re not just moving files—you’re the bridge between creative vision and flawless production. When you do your job right, the final product on the shelf looks just as stunning as it did in the concept phase.

If you love precision, organization, and turning design into reality, this is your chance to shape how brands look and feel in the marketplace.
