Role Title: Senior Network Engineer II Position Summary: The Global Networks - Global Wide Area Network (GWAN) Team is seeking a Senior Network Engineer II. This role will be responsible for providing network engineering, design, and operational support of Marriott International’s GWAN. This includes the architecture, implementation, configuration, and operational support of a large-scale, global network. The engineer will collaborate with other engineering teams and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain the network infrastructure. The engineer will provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for network-related issues. The role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, security, and network management tools. The engineer will also be responsible for monitoring network performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes as needed. The Senior Network Engineer II will provide advanced network engineering support for the enterprise-wide network infrastructure. This position requires hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and support of complex network environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of network protocols, network security, and network management tools. The engineer should be able to work independently and as part of a team. The role requires excellent communication and documentation skills. The engineer must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. The engineer must be able to adapt to changing priorities and technologies. Expected Contributions: * Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices. * Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for network-related issues. * Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement. * Implement changes to optimize network performance and security. * Collaborate with other engineering teams and business stakeholders to design and implement network solutions. * Develop and maintain network documentation. * Participate in on-call rotation. * Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers. * Assist with network automation and orchestration. * Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for improvement. Candidate Profile: Education and Experience: * 4-year degree in Computer Science or a related field; or equivalent experience. * Minimum 7+ years of experience in network engineering. * Experience with large-scale, global networks. * Experience with Cisco routers and switches. * Experience with firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, or similar). * Experience with network monitoring tools. * Experience with network security best practices. * Experience with network automation and orchestration tools. * Experience with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar). Skills and Competencies: * Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.). * Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and documentation skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. * Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Ability to create and maintain technical documentation. Technical Skills: * Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching protocols. * Expert-level knowledge of network security principles and best practices. * Experience with Cisco IOS and/or IOS-XE. * Experience with firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, or similar). * Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar). * Experience with network automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, or similar). * Experience with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar). * Experience with SD-WAN technologies. * Experience with VPN technologies. * Experience with QoS technologies. * Experience with VoIP technologies. * Experience with wireless technologies.
