About our client

Our client is an internationally active industrial supplier in the mobility sector with headquarters in the greater Kassel area and locations in Europe and North America. The company is growing on a very solid order basis.

Why this role

The network has grown over the years and is now being restructured. The networks will be separated and segmented, production networks secured, and binding standards will be established. The goal is a performant, failure-tolerant, and attack-resilient network landscape on which all IT services can be based.

• Because your work will be visible: in stable connections, clean segments, and documentation that others can work with.

• Because experienced IT management will give you support, even if something doesn't work out immediately.

These are your tasks

• Planning, setup, and operation of LAN, WAN, and backbone at all locations

• Routing and switching, including VLAN concepts and redundancy

• Site networking via VPN and secure remote access

• Operation of firewalls (Fortinet) and reorganization of grown rule sets

• Segmentation of networks and separation of IT and OT to ensure protected production operation

• WLAN and access points

• Network diagrams, IP address management, and standards that make the network understandable for everyone

To clarify: Security monitoring and SIEM are handled by an external partner with whom you will work closely. Clients, servers, and applications are managed by colleagues in the IT team. Your focus is on the network itself, from cabling to routing.

What you bring with you

• Several years of experience as a network administrator or network engineer, ideally in-house in an industrial or manufacturing company

• You have designed, structured, and documented networks, preferably as a generalist with a clear network focus in a smaller company.

• Sound know-how in routing and switching as well as experience with networking multiple locations, ideally internationally

• Practical experience with Fortinet or comparable enterprise solutions, such as Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco, or Sophos

• Experience with production networks and the separation of IT and OT

• Confident German and good English for coordination with the locations

• Advantageous: Certifications such as Fortinet FCP/FCSS, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or comparable

Salary
