Tasks

• Take responsibility for the design, operation, and maintenance of large, distributed MongoDB clusters in a business-critical environment.
• Showcase your skills in the architecture and scaling of Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters for maximum high availability and fault tolerance.
• Become the problem solver when it comes to cluster performance, load balancing across shards, query optimization, and index strategies.
• Do you plan and execute cluster expansions, rebalancing, failover scenarios, and rolling upgrades during live operations? That's your thing!

Qualifications

• Cluster Professional: You have demonstrable, many years of experience in setting up and operating entire MongoDB clusters in production environments – from the conception of Replica Sets and sharding strategies to the operation of MongoDB Atlas or Enterprise Advanced on a large scale.
• Scaling & High Availability: You understand the mechanisms behind sharding, replication, election processes, and read/write concerns and know how to design clusters across multiple data centers or regions for fault tolerance.
• Data Modeling: You know how to design efficient schema designs, aggregation pipelines, and index strategies for performant queries across distributed datasets.
• Automation: With tools like Ansible, Terraform, or scripting languages (Python, Bash), you automate the provisioning, configuration, and operation of entire clusters.
• Container Platforms: Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift are indispensable tools for you to operate database clusters consistently and efficiently.
• Cloud Topics: You already have experience operating distributed databases in cloud environments based on MS Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Monitoring & Backup: You use tools like MongoDB Ops Manager, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack for cluster monitoring and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for distributed environments.
• Security Conscious: For you, data security is always the top priority. You are familiar with authentication (LDAP, Kerberos), role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and auditing, and ensure that security vulnerabilities have no chance.
• Strong Communication Skills: You know that good knowledge must be shared. You feel comfortable in a team and can convey complex issues clearly and understandably.
• Eager to Learn: The IT world is changing rapidly, and you are always ready to learn new things and develop yourself further.
• Willing to Travel: You are open to assignments at our clients' sites and see this as an opportunity to broaden your horizons.
• Language Talent: You master German at least at level C1. English skills are a definite plus.
