Senior Medical Officer - PNG (FIFO, Expatriate role)

We are a world leader in the delivery of exceptional healthcare in any setting, particularly those that are remote, challenging, and under-resourced. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced expatriate Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to lead the clinical operations of a remote community medical facility in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The SMO will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of local healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant medical standards and regulations. Key responsibilities include: • Providing medical leadership and guidance to the local healthcare team; • Developing and implementing clinical protocols and procedures; • Conducting regular medical assessments and providing treatment plans for patients; • Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records; • Collaborating with other stakeholders, including local authorities and international partners, to ensure effective delivery of healthcare services; • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of clinical guidelines; • Ensuring compliance with relevant medical standards and regulations, including those related to infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality. Requirements: • MBBS or equivalent medical degree; • Current registration as a medical practitioner with the relevant professional body; • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior medical officer role, preferably in a remote or resource-constrained setting; • Strong leadership and management skills, with ability to motivate and guide a team of local healthcare professionals; • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds; • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment; • Familiarity with relevant medical standards and regulations, including those related to infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality.
