Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Permanent Full-Time
Location: Office based in Herefordshire
Join a long-established Engineering Design Consultancy with strong skills in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Product Design, and Analysis.
We're are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems and products.

We're are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems and products.
Responsibilities, but are not limited to
- Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems and products
- Take ownership of major projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions
- Oversee and contribute to prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., EMC, safety, RoHS)
- Participate in and lead design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis
- Work with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, manufacturing, QA) to ensure seamless product integration
- Support continuous improvement in engineering standards, processes, and documentation
- Is probably degree qualified in an appropriate area (but proven capability/attitude is more important)
- Has experience in leading the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies and systems from concept through to production
- Is experienced in creating detailed 3D CAD models (SolidWorks), engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Can conduct and review engineering calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) for strength, thermal, and dynamic performance
- Can guide junior engineers and provide technical mentorship
