(Senior) Manager Tax – Focus VAT (m/f/d)
Job description
Reach for the stars with us!
To strengthen our Finance team at Limehome, we are looking for a highly competent (Senior) Manager Tax – Focus VAT (m/f/d). In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the VAT-related issues of our international and growing corporate group – from ongoing compliance and process and system design to supporting operational and special audits. You will work closely with our local accounting teams, various internal stakeholders, and external advisors. This will directly contribute to our tax compliance and the management of a scalable setup.
As a ‘Host with heart’, you will be responsible for these matters:
VAT Compliance & Consulting
You will be responsible for VAT compliance across all companies and countries (including DE, AT, ES, IT, PT, NL, and other markets).
You will prepare or review VAT pre-declarations and annual VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and other VAT reporting obligations (e.g., SII in Spain) in collaboration with the local teams.
You will be the internal point of contact for VAT-related questions and will assess new factual situations (e.g., OTA/platform models, cross-border services, chain transactions).
Process & System Design
You will structurally contribute to VAT-correct invoicing and booking processes and will address systemic sources of error at their root (e.g., invoicing logic, entity assignment, account determination).
You will work closely with the Accounting, Financial Systems & Automation departments, as well as the relevant operational teams, to translate VAT requirements into systems and automated workflows.
You will further develop standards, guidelines, and documentation and will contribute to the automation and standardization of VAT processes.
Audits & External Stakeholders
You will support VAT operational and special audits and prepare the required documentation.
You will effectively manage external tax advisors, reduce external consulting costs, and ensure professional quality at the same time.
You will provide support on related tax matters (e.g., transfer pricing, income taxes).
What you need to reach for the stars with us:
You have several years of relevant professional experience in tax law, particularly in VAT law, ideally in an international environment, a tax consultancy, or an auditing firm.
You have sound knowledge of German and EU VAT law; experience with other European jurisdictions (e.g., Spain) is a clear plus.
You think in terms of processes and systems and enjoy structurally and sustainably resolving sources of error rather than just correcting individual cases.
You have experience in supporting operational or special audits.
You have a passion for continuous improvement and the use of automation and AI.
You are proficient in both written and spoken German and English and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
You are proficient in using accounting and ERP systems as well as common tools.
Why you'll love your “stay” with us:
Hybrid Office Model: We offer a flexible work environment – you can choose whether you want to work 100% in our office or partially from home and the office.
Visa & Language Support: We will support you with your visa process and in learning the German language (after successful completion of the probationary period).
Relocation Assistance: We will financially support your move to Munich if you live more than 300 km away from our office.
Oneteam: We are #oneteam with a transparent company culture, keeping each other up-to-date through team stand-ups, regular all-hands meetings, and team events (summer, Oktoberfest, Christmas).
Growth and Development: We ensure that you continue to grow – through constant feedback, peer reviews, and exchange focused on your development.
Limitless Learning: We offer you the opportunity to utilize external development formats that will support you in reaching your full potential, without being limited by a fixed budget.
Workation: You have the opportunity to work in another EU country twice a year for up to 4 weeks. Our Limehomies love to travel, so we want to give you the opportunity to work in new, inspiring locations regularly.
Sabbatical: After 1.5 years with limehome, we offer you the opportunity for a 3-month sabbatical. You can use this time to travel, spend time with your friends, or engage in volunteer work.
Everything for our Limehomies: We take care of your physical well-being (Urban Sports Club) and your mental well-being (Nilo.health). Additionally, you benefit from discounted rates for our Limehomes and many other benefits. Join us and find out! 😉
