Job description

FlixTrain is Europe's greenest way to travel by train — we connect German cities reliably, sustainably, and at prices that make rail travel accessible to everyone. As part of the FlixMobility family, we've rethought mobility in Europe. Our People Team is the backbone of the company: We manage a diverse workforce of commercial and administrative staff members who ensure trains run on time, tickets are sold, and travelers arrive every day.

We're looking for an experienced People Operations Manager who's eager to take on real operational responsibility in a fast-paced environment where no two days are alike. You'll be responsible for and shape HR processes for our entire workforce: from train staff and commercial employees to corporate and tech colleagues.

You're someone who doesn't wait for the perfect starting situation, but just gets started. Tight deadlines don't make you nervous; they motivate you. And if you already have experience using KI tools to automate recurring HR tasks — all the better.

**Your Tasks**

**Operative HR Management**

  • Responsibility for the entire HR lifecycle — from onboarding and contract management to offboarding and compliance.
  • Briefing and further development of HR processes for a mixed workforce of commercial and administrative staff members with high expectations for legally secure, consistent implementation.
  • Operative implementation even under high time pressure — you ensure that things get done, even if the timeline is tight.
  • Closely cooperating with leadership from the train operations, customer experience, and corporate departments.
  • Preliminary payroll accounting in the absence of the Payroll Manager.

**Stakeholder Management & Consulting**

  • A trusted point of contact for leaders and employees on all HR-related questions: policies, compliance, labor law.
  • Sovereign handling of complex labor law situations and employee conversations.
  • Closely cooperating with Talent Acquisition, People Partnering, and Legal — you ensure that interfaces function smoothly.

**Process Optimization & Automation**

  • Identifying inefficiencies in existing HR processes and developing scalable, partially automated solutions — preferably with KI support.
  • Co-designing and implementing HR digitalization projects to reduce manual workload and improve data quality.
  • Buiding dashboards and reporting structures for informed people decisions at the management level.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the People Team.

We're looking forward to your application!

**About You**

**Must-haves**

  • 4-8 years of professional experience in HR/People Operations, ideally in a growth-oriented or operationally complex company.
  • Numerous experiences in managing mixed workforces — commercial and/or administrative target groups are a clear plus.
  • A strong operational foundation: You build systems, rather than just putting out fires; you document, rather than just acting.
  • Fluent German language skills (at least C1) for secure communication with employees and authorities.
  • Good English skills for interdepartmental cooperation in the international Flix environment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of German labor law and HR compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR) as well as data-based HR reporting.
  • A strong stakeholder management and communication skills on all levels.

**Nice-to-haves**

  • Practical experience with KI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, workflow automation) for optimizing HR processes.
  • Background in logistics, transportation, trade, or other operationally intense industries.
  • Experience with larger people projects or HR transformations.
  • A genuine interest in the future of HR tech — you don't wait for someone to explain what KI can do.

**What We Offer**

  • Travel Perks: 12 free Flix vouchers + 12 discount vouchers for friends & family.
  • Work from Anywhere: Depending on the role, you can work up to 60 days per year from another location.
  • Hybrid Work Model: We're a company with an office culture, but we offer flexibility to balance work and life.
  • Health & Wellness Offers: Access to confidential individual coaching, courses, and stress management measures — for you and up to four family members.
  • Learning & Development: Use language courses, training sessions, and expert meetings to develop your skills.
  • Mentoring Program: Network with experienced colleagues to gain insights and accelerate your career.
  • Dog-Friendly Office: Bring your four-legged friend to the office.

Our Culture

FlixTrain is moving fast — that's no slogan, it's our daily routine. We're a team of pragmatic problem solvers who don't wait for ideal conditions. We value curiosity, reward initiative, and expect people to speak up when something's not right. Hierarchy doesn't stand in the way of good ideas — and we firmly believe that operational excellence and a strong team culture are no contradiction.

If you're the one who solves complex HR problems before lunch and starts automating them in the afternoon — then you're exactly right for us.

Why Join Flix?

Flix is all about making travel simple, safe, and affordable — both for our passengers and employees. We're growing and developing every day, and we're looking for people who are ready to contribute and shape the way we work. If you're looking for a job where you can grow and make a difference, then FlixTrain is exactly right for you. Here, you can be part of a team where your contribution counts and you can chart your own course!
