Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d) – Perspective General Counsel

At ryd, you will take over an established legal function, succeeding our long-standing General Counsel, and report directly to the Chairman of ryd.

The essential structures and processes of the legal function are in place. You will take them over as part of a structured handover, continue to manage them independently, and develop them further with the company. As the central legal point of contact, you will advise the management, the Chairman, and the departments, and accompany ryd in its further growth and international expansion.

The position is deliberately designed with a clear development perspective: The goal is to advance to General Counsel within a maximum of 18 months. The prerequisite for this is the successful assumption of overall responsibility for the legal function – including corporate law matters as well as committee and shareholder work. The specific areas of responsibility, development steps, and goals will be jointly defined with the Chairman at the beginning.

• Comprehensive legal advice to management, the Chairman, and departments in all legal areas relevant to ryd, particularly in corporate law, commercial law, contract law, competition law, civil law, and labor law
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating national and international contracts in German and English, as well as responsibility for contract management
• Legal support for corporate law matters, including financing rounds, transactions, due diligence processes, and changes in corporate structure
• Preparation and legal support for committee and shareholder work
• Legal support for foreign subsidiaries and accompanying ryd's entry into new markets
• Responsibility for general terms and conditions, terms of use, and the legal framework for our app, web, and digital products
• Responsibility for data protection compliance and support for trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property law issues
• Legal support for our payment products and business models in cooperation with banks, payment service providers, and other regulated partners
• Assessment of legal and regulatory requirements in the development of new products, business models, and markets
• Labor law advice to management and close collaboration with HR
• Handling of legal disputes, as well as selection, commissioning, and management of external law firms
• Further development of legal processes, contract standards, and internal governance structures with ryd's growth

• Fully qualified lawyer with several years of relevant professional experience in a company and/or a commercial law firm
• Broad generalist legal expertise and a strong understanding of economic and entrepreneurial contexts
• Experience in the independent drafting and negotiation of complex contracts
• Ability to clearly assess legal risks while developing pragmatic and business-oriented solutions
• High degree of independence, sense of responsibility, and the willingness to consistently see tasks through to completion
• Confident demeanor towards management, shareholders, business partners, and external consultants
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills; other languages are welcome
• Sound knowledge of data protection law
• Ideally, experience in the payment, FinTech, mobility, platform, or technology-driven environment
• Interest in further developing an existing legal function and eventually taking overall responsibility as General Counsel
