Job description

Will you ensure that our network continues to function safely, stably, and optimally? Then apply for the position of Senior LAN Network Administrator. As a Civilian within your field, you will contribute to a professional defense organization and thus to peace and security at home and abroad?

As a Senior Network Administrator, you will work with your team to keep the Defense network safe and reliable. You will work with the latest techniques in Network Engineering. And you will have a central role in the management, lifecycle, and maintenance of the various parts of the Defense network.

All management activities are carried out according to ITIL, and you will have a role in the change and incident process within the department. If necessary, you will involve other disciplines. You will handle incidents and problems and ensure that preventive and corrective measures are taken where necessary.

Your main responsibilities:

• You will prioritize, advise on, and coordinate changes and incidents within the network environment;
• You will investigate and analyze network problems and ensure a suitable and sustainable solution;
• You will monitor the performance, stability, and security of the network and take proactive measures to continuously improve them;
• You will contribute to a uniform and professional working method by preparing, improving, and keeping management documentation up-to-date;
• You will be aware of your role within the team and actively contribute to the quality, continuity, and security of our services.
• You will support and coach colleagues where necessary and actively share your knowledge and experience.

Job requirements

• You have HBO work and thinking level, preferably a completed education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Telecommunications related field;
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Network Administration with a focus on Layer 2 and 3 technologies;
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in executing operations (run and change) and identifying opportunities for automation implementation;
• You have a CCNP certification or are willing to obtain one;
• Experience working in a large organization is a plus;
• Experience with Cisco ISE is a plus.

Department description

You will work in the Generic IT and Infrastructure (GII) department. This department is responsible for providing advice, services, systems, and applications for generic information technology, particularly for the Infrastructure and generic IT business capability. The department is responsible for the realization and maintenance of the defense-wide IT infrastructure.

Within this department, you will work in the NAFIN Local Connect team, which deals with the LAN components of the Defense network. You will work with fellow engineers, designers, and product specialists on operations, changes, and lifecycles. Your work location is Huis ter Heide.
