Senior Java Fullstack Developer (m/f/d)

YOUR MISSION

As a Senior Java Fullstack Developer (m/f/d), you will support a major project of the central IT initiatives of the German tax administration. The focus is on a system that controls the cross-departmental business processes between different specific applications.

Your tasks

• Conception, modeling, and implementation of business processes using BPMN (Camunda) – from requirements gathering to technical implementation

• Development and further development of high-performance backend components based on Java (17/21) and Spring Boot to support complex, cross-application business processes

• Design and implementation of interfaces (REST, SOAP, Messaging) including coordination with adjacent systems and teams

• Development of technical solution designs for cross-system process flows and their integration into existing architectures

• Active participation in the transformation and processing of large amounts of data within distributed system landscapes

• Coordination with project stakeholders and participation in exchange formats – predominantly remote, with occasional on-site appointments (approx. 1x per month in Kaarst)

• Creation, execution, and documentation of developer and integration tests to ensure software quality

• Maintenance, upkeep, and continuous optimization of existing software components during ongoing operation

• Creation of technical documentation (e.g., interface descriptions, installation and operation manuals)

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO US

• At least 7 years of practical experience in the development of backend applications with Java and sound knowledge of modern frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot

• Very good experience in the development of distributed systems and microservice architectures, including confident handling of interface technologies (REST, SOAP, Messaging)

• Practical experience with BPMN and workflow engines (especially Camunda) as well as a good understanding of modeling business processes

• Sound knowledge of working with databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA

• Experience working with Linux systems and basic shell scripting skills

• Confident use of common development and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Gradle, Jira, Confluence)

• Structured, solution-oriented approach and the ability to present complex technical contexts understandably

• Experience in the public sector or in the context of large, distributed IT system landscapes is an advantage

• Very good German language skills, spoken and written (C1 level)
