Senior IT Project Leader (m/w/d) Retail | Düsseldorf

You want to accompany complex IT projects, but not just follow along? You want to take ownership of End-to-End projects?

In this role, you will be responsible for steering demanding software and digitalization projects in a stable, growth-oriented retail environment.

Tasks

• Total responsibility for IT and software projects (Frontend, Backend, Hardware) across all phases – from initialization & planning to Go-Live
• Fuelling and coordinating interdisciplinary project teams (Development, Business, external partners, Management)
• Steering time plans, budgets, resources, risks, and dependencies
• Active stakeholder and expectation management on customer and management levels
• Ensuring transparent communication, structured reporting, and clean project documentation
• Continuously developing project management standards, governance models, and decision-making processes
• Sovereign navigation between agile, classical, and hybrid project approaches

Qualification

• Multiple years of experience as IT Project Leader / IT Project Manager or project-based product development with responsibility for complex software projects
• Good understanding of software development processes, architectural foundations, and technical risks
• Fundamental knowledge in Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, Hybrid-PM
• Ideal experience in E-commerce, Retail, or platform environments
• Hands-on mentality, decision-making strength, and high ownership
• High communication, organizational, and moderation skills
• Structured, solution-oriented, and self-reliant work style
• Readiness to spend 1-3 days per week on-site with the teams
• Very good German and English language skills
