You translate the wishes and needs of the client into a clear, visual, and technical design. This makes you an important link between the functional requirement and the technical realization. You work according to the Agile/SAFe methodology and collaborate closely with various disciplines, including architects and product owners. From your expertise, you make a significant contribution to the development and improvement of IT solutions within the Administration & Other Support IT (BOO IT) department. In this role, you will be involved in, among other things: - Actively participating in PI Planning sessions; - Preparing and drafting technical designs; - Conducting security analyses on applications; - Gathering, analyzing, and compiling information necessary for technical designs. Your primary responsibility is translating functional requirements into a technical design. You will work within the frameworks of the Defence Security Policy and ensure that designs meet the stipulated requirements in terms of security and technology. Your design activities are aimed at both customer products and improving the technical architecture. You will work on both existing and new products. Through your technical designs, you ensure that these products can be managed in a proper and controlled manner.

Job Requirements

For this position, we are looking for an experienced IT professional who can effectively connect technology, design, and security. You have: - HBO (higher vocational education) work and thinking level in ICT or a comparable knowledge area, demonstrable through a diploma or assessment; - At least 4 years of relevant work experience with complex IT infrastructures, preferably in a similar environment; - Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation, such as Ansible and Terraform; - Knowledge of cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure, and of Linux and Windows systems, both on-premises and in the cloud; - Knowledge and experience with CI/CD and modern IT platforms, such as GitHub, GitLab, and Kubernetes, and experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud; - Affinity with application hosting, for example on IIS and/or Apache; - A keen eye for quality, security, and technical coherence. You are skilled in providing technical advice and translating security and standard frameworks into concrete requirements for the ICT architecture. You can translate these frameworks into clear and executable technical designs, effectively connecting various interests. You work closely with solution and system architects. Experience working within an Agile/SAFe environment is a plus.

Your work location is Utrecht or Den Helder, by choice. However, it is part of this role that you will regularly be present at the other location. You will be working within the Joint Information Provision Command (JIVC), in the Administration & Other Support IT (BOO IT) department. Together with other departments within the functional and operational IT, BOO IT is the IT supplier for Defence. The department delivers complete systems, applications, trainers, and simulators for the armed forces within the relevant domain. BOO IT combines in-depth knowledge of business operations, user, and maintenance processes with technical expertise. Based on this knowledge, the department translates requirements and wishes into concrete specifications. This is done both for its own software development and for development assignments that are outsourced externally. Additionally, BOO IT provides support for delivered systems and technical assistance during their implementation and replacement. You will work within the BOO IT Service Team. This team focuses on the optimal alignment between business and IT within the generic IT domain and is responsible for the lifecycle of the IT infrastructure for generic IV/ICT products.
