Job Description

In this role, as a Senior Food Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for:
• supervising the quality and safety of food within the Ministry of Defence;
• supervising compliance with laws and regulations and field standards in the area of food safety;
• supervising the healthcare of defence personnel;
• monitoring developments within the food safety domain;
• maintaining our collaboration with the NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority);
• conducting research into food safety within the Ministry of Defence.

As a senior inspector, you are (partially) responsible for carrying out supervision with a package of tasks that includes:
• developing assessment frameworks and testing frameworks, collecting, analyzing, and reporting information and findings;
• conducting system-oriented and thematic research;
• disseminating the results of research;
• maintaining professional knowledge;
• participating in the annual plan/annual report cycle;
• maintaining collaborations with internal and external supervisors.

Job Requirements

Education:
• HBO/WO work and thinking level

Required:
• Demonstrable knowledge of food safety and associated laws and regulations
• Work experience within the food safety domain
• HACCP training (or willingness to undertake it)

Desired:
• Experience in supervision
• Affinity with and understanding of the military context
• Knowledge of food defence (protection against intentional food contamination)
• Willingness to travel abroad if supervision or advice requires it
