Senior Fullstack Developer PHP/Laravel (m/f/d) - Remote, 4-Day Week

Full Time Remote Senior

Job description

Intro

Do you want to work on a Legal-Tech application that functions as a digital legal department for e-commerce companies? Do you think in systems from the data model to the user interface, enjoy conceptualizing technical solutions, and take responsibility for ensuring they are implemented as intended? Then, as a Senior Fullstack Developer (m/f/d) / Senior Web Developer PHP/Laravel (m/f/d) at Händlerbund, you're exactly in the right place!

With us, you will develop a platform that digitally maps and automizes legal processes. From the creation of legal content to contract and review processes, including data protection and security issues. This includes interfaces and plugins through which our content reaches the shops of our members, as well as integrations with partner systems. The goal is to translate complex legal requirements into reliable, understandable, and efficient digital workflows.

In this role, you will take on the technical leadership of projects that we implement in small project teams: You will conceptualize solutions, be responsible for implementation, guide other developers in the project, and keep all stakeholders informed about the progress. You will implement smaller projects independently from start to finish, and for larger ones, you will work in a team with Laravel and Livewire in the stack.

Your Tasks

  • Technical Conception: Analysis of requirements, design of the solution architecture, definition of data models and interfaces, as well as estimation of efforts for features and projects.
  • Ownership for Implementation: Responsibility for a project to go from conception to go-live. Cutting and prioritizing tasks, keeping track of progress, making technical decisions, and removing blockers.
  • Guidance & Knowledge Transfer: Technical leadership of other developers in the project through clear technical specifications, pairing, and code reviews in both backend and frontend. Knowledge about architecture and decisions lands in the team and in documentation, not just with you.
  • Reporting: Regular, understandable reports on status, risks, and next steps to the Team Lead, Product Owner, and stakeholders.
  • Fullstack Development: Implementation with Laravel, Livewire, Alpine.js, Flux UI, and Tailwind CSS. Smaller projects independently from start to finish, larger ones in a project team.
  • Partner Connections & Integrations: Solution evaluation, implementation, and documentation of interfaces to partner and third-party systems.
  • Architecture & Technology Evaluation: Co-design of architecture, development standards, and tooling; evaluation of new technologies, frameworks, and AI use cases regarding their concrete benefit for the product and team.

Your Profile

Technical

  • Several Years of Experience with PHP & Laravel: Development of web applications across the entire stack, ideally with Livewire, Alpine.js, Flux UI, and Tailwind CSS in the frontend.
  • Conception & Technical Leadership: Experience in developing technical concepts and being responsible for their implementation, either alone or as the technical lead of a project team.
  • Code Reviews Across the Entire Stack: Practice in reviewing backend and frontend code and the ability to give feedback in a way that helps others grow.
  • Testing Experience: Proficient use of PHPUnit or Pest and experience with testing strategies in larger codebases. Tests are part of the implementation for you, not rework.
  • Databases & APIs: Proficient use of relational databases, data modeling, and API design.
  • Agile Teamwork: Experience in agile teams, ideally with Scrum, including close collaboration and continuous exchange.

Nice to Have, but not a Must

  • DevOps Experience: Cloud systems, PaaS platforms, containers, CI/CD, or Linux server administration (e.g., DigitalOcean and Laravel Cloud)
  • Experience with shop systems and developing plugins or apps for them (e.g., Shopify or JTL)
  • A feel for UX and experience in designing user-friendly interfaces
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, queues, or asynchronous processing
  • Experience with integrating LLM APIs into product features (Prompting, Evaluation, Guardrails)

Personal

  • Ownership: You feel responsible for the outcome of a project. From the initial sketch to go-live and beyond, and not just for your own tickets.
  • Systems Thinking: You see the impact of changes across component and team boundaries.
  • Structured Communication: You can articulate the status of a project understandably for technical and non-technical stakeholders, even when things are not going according to plan.
  • Pragmatism: You strike a balance between a clean solution and pragmatic progress.
  • Knowledge Transfer: You enjoy sharing knowledge and making others in the team better, e.g., in reviews, pairings, and documentation.
  • AI as a Tool: You naturally use AI tools in your daily development work and objectively assess where they provide real value in the product and where they don't.

Why Us?

Code. Chill. Repeat.

  • 4 Days Code – 3 Days You: With us, the 4-day week is standard. Not a gimmick, but reality. You work remotely or in our Leipzig office – whatever way you perform best. Flexible hours, no micromanagement, full personal responsibility. And yes: permanent employment from the start.
  • Your Stack, Your Style: We are all about smart solutions, clean code, and people who think along. Do you want to have a say, experiment, and not just work through tickets? Here you go. Plus: mentoring, further training as needed, and space for real development.
  • Remote First, Team Always: Despite being remote, the team spirit remains. We celebrate releases, grill in the summer, and toast to great ideas. Your office dog is just as welcome here as your favorite editor.
  • Professionalism: real quality instead of show-off. We practice agile development with clear iterations and direct feedback. You work with modern, professional tools, with clear roles and responsibilities – you know exactly what your job is and have the freedom to do it the right way. Clean code, smart decisions, and a team that works together. Professionalism here means: You can concentrate on what you do best – developing.
  • Snacks, Swag & Soft Drinks: Fruit, muesli, coffee, water – all for free. No dress code. Come as you are. The main thing is that you feel comfortable.
  • Perks That Matter: Childcare subsidy, support for retirement planning, Leipzig public transport ticket, or sports activities for your balance – from a home gym to a fitness studio for mind and body.
