Senior Fullstack Engineer (Backend-first) @ Ringier Axel Springer Tech

We are not interested in a checklist match to a specific stack.

*GoLang is important to us, but it doesn't have to be your main language today. We are primarily looking for a good backend engineer who wants to work with Go in production.

What is most important to us is that:

• you have strong backend foundations and experience with production systems;
• you can independently take a problem from analysis to a working solution;
• you are comfortable working with APIs, integrations, databases, and system architecture;
• you have practical experience with the cloud - preferably AWS;
• you can step into an existing system, understand its limitations, and develop it meaningfully;
• you are not afraid of changes outside the backend and can make the necessary frontend changes;
• you can talk about trade-offs: time, quality, risk, costs, and impact on the product;
• you clearly communicate risks, dependencies, and consequences of your decisions;
• you can constructively challenge a solution and propose a better alternative;
• you are curious about technology and can effectively learn a new area.

Nice to have:

• using Go in practice
• AWS and cloud-native environments
• experience in conscious use of AI in software development
• event-driven systems
• SQS, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, Redis, or PostgreSQL
• migrations on-premises → cloud
• TypeScript, React, or Preact
• Infrastructure as Code
• large-scale systems or high availability requirements

Onet Poczta is one of those products that simply has to work. Behind every sent email, login, or inbox opening is a system that must be scalable, reliable, and ready for heavy load. In our team, we are modernizing Onet Poczta, developing new solutions, and gradually migrating more elements of the existing infrastructure to AWS. We are building the new backend primarily in Go, and on the frontend, we work with TypeScript and Preact.
If you like solving problems, not tickets, bringing things from idea to production, and looking under the hood of the system when needed – this might be a good place for you.

What will your role involve? You will lead problems end-to-end – from understanding the need, through designing the solution and implementation, to deployment, monitoring its operation, and further development.

• design and develop backend services and APIs;
• work with databases, integrations, and distributed systems;
• build solutions and collaborate with AWS services;
• make decisions regarding reliability, security, observability, and costs;
• work with both new solutions and existing code;
• if necessary, also get involved in the frontend and changes at the frontend-backend interface;
• collaborate with the team, DevOps, Product, and other stakeholders;
• use AI tools as real support in daily engineering work – with responsibility for the final outcome
