Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (m/f/d) (GovTech & AI)

Brief Role Profile

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (m/f/d) with a strong focus on web product development and AI/LLM integration. You will be technically building up our team long-term and shaping our GovTech platform for public administrations.

Location: Remote-first from Germany or Austria (with occasional team meetings by arrangement and the option to use offices in Garching)

Start: Expected from January 1, 2027; we will arrange the start date flexibly with you.

Compensation: Salary based on experience and expertise; bonus payments foreseen, employee share options possible.

Legally required information for employment with a workplace in Austria, absolute minimum salary: In Austria, the minimum remuneration based on the IT-KV 2026 is from €4,061 gross per month for a 38.5-hour week, plus special payments. The individually applicable minimum remuneration results from the classification and credited previous employment. We are explicitly prepared to pay above this minimum remuneration.

About Us

Lexaru is a young GovTech/LegalTech startup that digitizes administrative processes with modern applications. Our products support case workers in their daily administrative work and contribute to efficient administration and better services for citizens.

We develop specialized applications for municipal and state administrations, combining modern product development with AI-powered functions in secure and traceable systems.

We are supported, among others, by the Legal Tech Colab of the Technical University of Munich and the AI Nation platform.

Your Responsibilities

Product & Development

You will develop full-stack features and complete internal tools from idea through architecture, implementation, and testing to rollout. This includes designing simple UI/UX and the necessary backend engineering. You will build fast MVPs and develop mature functions for productive use.

AI / LLM

You will conceptualize and develop LLM-based functions and agentic workflows and integrate them into our products. You will use prompt and context engineering, RAG, tool calling, and structured model outputs. You will make architectural and model decisions, develop suitable evaluations, and ensure reliable operation through guardrails, logging, and monitoring. You will improve quality, runtime, and costs based on measurable results.

Architecture & Operations

You will contribute to the architecture of our platform (services, data model, security), share responsibility for deployment, CI/CD, and monitoring with us, and ensure security, performance, cost, and stability in productive operation.

Collaboration & Product Thinking

You will work closely with the founders and clients, translate user needs into technical solutions and clear user stories, and contribute your own ideas. You will participate in prioritization and make pragmatic technical decisions.

Your Profile

What you bring

• You have several years of experience in professional full-stack product development. Four or more years are considered a benchmark. Even with less experience, we encourage you to apply if you can convince us with your expertise.

• You have very good knowledge of TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks, ideally Svelte or Vue.

• You have very good knowledge of modern backend technologies such as Node.js or Django.

• You have experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including schema design and fundamental performance optimization.

• You have practical experience in developing and operating LLM-based applications, including RAG, tool calling, and structured model outputs. You can independently design and integrate AI workflows and further develop their quality through systematic evaluation and error analysis.

• You work in a structured and reliable manner, communicate clearly, and see tasks through to completion. You contribute your own ideas and take responsibility for your areas.

• You want to understand how specialized administrative procedures work in order to build meaningful UIs and user flows.

• You can prioritize and make decisions independently in an early stage with few process structures.

• You maintain clean documentation, such as architecture notes, ADRs, and onboarding docs.

• You have excellent German and English language skills.
