Introduction

About The Role

You will be working with a talented and multi-faceted team, both within our Digital team, as well as across the wider business, to build out new features and apps for customers on a cloud-native, PHP-centric platform. We are moving towards a fully-automated devops lifecycle, and you will be at the forefront of reinventing our software to get value our to our customers, suppliers and staff as fast as possible.



Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching, analysing and evaluating system program requirements
  • Collaborating with stakeholders regarding the planning of new systems being deployed
  • Review current available technologies, identifying limitations and deficiencies in the existing system to ensure the new system is based on a robust technology
  • Writing and maintaining programme code to meet system requirements
  • Work with outside suppliers where required to implement the new system
  • Testing, debugging, diagnosing, and fixing to ensure the system performs according to the agreed specifications
  • Modify and update the system where required in accordance with company demands
  • Complete and maintain technical documentation for end user and operational procedures
  • Provide guidance and expertise in reviewing company proposals for software design, evaluating financial costs and benefits of software purchases and upgrades


Skills And Experiences

About You

You will be comfortable both working autonomously as well as with others in a cross functional team environment. You should be able to demonstrate initiative to improve any systems being developed and be comfortable being able to modify programme where required to improve efficiency.

You’ll have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Software Developer working with PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, Html, CSS
  • Familiarity with MVC frameworks like Laravel.
  • Experience in ReactJS, jQuery and other JavaScript frameworks/libraries.
  • Knowledge and experience writing functional PHPUnit tests.
  • Experience in building complex solutions from scratch using various technologies.
  • Extensive familiarity with building APIs and integrating with 3rd party vendors.
  • Knowledge and experience with various AWS technologies.
  • Familiarity and experience in building stand-alone microservices.
  • Familiarity with PSR-2/PSR-4 coding standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with non-relation databases like MongoDB, DynamoDB
  • Familiarity with various caching mechanisms
  • Excellent Communication skills and a positive can-do attitude

Advantageous:

  • Experience with SilverStripe CMS
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence
  • Knowledge of JAVA
