As a Senior Front-end Developer, you will help build a scalable and future-proof platform that enables development teams within Defence to develop applications faster, more consistently, and more securely.

The design system forms the basis for various digital applications. From web applications and self-service portals to systems used by military personnel in operational conditions. Your work will therefore have a direct impact on users throughout Defence.

You will work on reusable front-end components, monitor code quality, and ensure that parts are accessible, secure, and easily applicable within different applications and frameworks.

As an experienced developer, you are not only responsible for the technical realization but also for the further professionalization of the design system. You will contribute to architectural choices, development standards, and adoption within the organization.

You will work closely with UX designers, product owners, architects, and other development teams. In doing so, you will translate user needs and technical requirements into concrete solutions.

A glimpse of your tasks:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining reusable front-end components within a central design system;
  • Developing scalable web components and contributing to the technical architecture;
  • Building and maintaining components that can be used within different applications and frameworks;
  • Monitoring quality, accessibility, performance, and user-friendliness;
  • Preparing technical documentation and guidelines for development teams;
  • Performing tests and quality checks on developed components;
  • Analyzing and resolving technical problems and disruptions;
  • Contributing to lifecycle management and further development of the platform;
  • Sharing knowledge and guiding fellow developers in using the design system;
  • Advising on technical improvements and new possibilities.

Job Requirements

You are an experienced front-end developer who enjoys working on complex digital solutions with broad impact. You combine technical expertise with a good understanding of user needs and can translate complex issues into practical and sustainable solutions.

You enjoy collaborating with various disciplines and consider knowledge sharing important. You take initiative, contribute to improvements, and have an eye for quality, accessibility, and maintainability.

In addition, you possess:

  • A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a front-end developer;
  • Experience with developing scalable and maintainable front-end solutions;
  • Experience with design systems and developing reusable components;
  • Experience with web components and preferably StencilJS;
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue;
  • Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, JSX, and SCSS;
  • Experience with software testing and quality assurance;
  • Experience with documenting components and technical solutions;
  • Good communication skills and the ability to transfer technical knowledge.

Knowledge of CI/CD, AI applications, Storybook, Playwright, and automated testing is a plus.
