Job Description

Hundreds of thousands of people who don't work at a desk open Flip to access everything their company's digital world has to offer them. Companies like Bosch, REWE, and Porsche work with it, among others. The difficult part is the last mile into enterprise IT that has grown over decades, and this role is precisely about that last mile.

As a Customer Engineer, you will work at the intersection of our product and our customers' environment: their identity stack, their HR systems, their security review, their AI roadmap. You will take a Flip tenant from zero to hundreds of thousands of active users and decide how the technical side will be solved. Sometimes, by designing the integration and enabling the customer's IT to build it themselves; sometimes, by building the first version yourself and then handing it over. This includes the part where our AI goes live at the customer: agents in the app, tool access via MCP, and the underlying authentication questions that no one has solved yet.

What awaits you here

• End-to-end Technical Responsibility: You will be responsible for the technical side of our enterprise onboardings, from the initial architecture discussion to stable rollout across the board.

• Integrations that make Flip sustainable: You will design and deliver identity and authentication (OIDC, Entra ID, Frontline Identity), SCIM provisioning, REST APIs, and connections to HR and operational systems like SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or UKG.

• Consult and empower, don't just execute: You will guide the customer's IT, their partners, and our external development partners towards a solution that you yourself would endorse, ensuring it can be operated without you.

• Build where it solves the rollout: Where building is the fastest way to demonstrate an approach or get a rollout moving again, you will build the first version and then hand it over cleanly, with documentation and a handover meeting, so it endures.

• AI where it meets the customer: You will shape how agents, tool access via MCP, and agent-to-agent scenarios are implemented in real enterprise environments, including the authentication and data boundaries that must be maintained.

• Technical Authority in the Account: You will align requirements with project management, IT, security, business departments, and works councils, make technical decisions, and feed back the gaps you identify to our product and engineering teams. Expect regular travel to customers, approximately 10 to 30 percent of your time.

What you bring to the table

Must-haves

• Approximately 3 to 5 years (or more) in IT or tech consulting, customer engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or SaaS implementation, with real enterprise experience.

• Hands-on experience with enterprise integration and identity: SSO and authentication (OIDC, OAuth, Entra ID or comparable), REST APIs, and API-based integrations that you have delivered in real enterprise IT landscapes.

• Technical responsibility at the customer in enterprise projects, where you made technical decisions collaboratively with IT, Security, and Business departments, not just coordinated them.

• Genuine technical depth without writing product code full-time: You read code, review a design, debug an integration, and build a working prototype.

• German at C1 level or higher and fluent English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SCIM provisioning and connections to HR or workforce systems like SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or UKG.

• A well-founded, up-to-date perspective on where agent-based AI is heading: MCP, A2A, EMA, and the authentication questions beneath them. We are looking for someone who closely follows the field and has their own opinion, not years of experience that cannot yet exist.

• Previous experience as a Customer Engineer or Forward Deployed Engineer in a product company rather than exclusively in traditional consulting.

• Workflow automation tools (n8n or similar), familiarity with logs, metrics, and dashboards, or experience with co-determination and data protection in the enterprise environment.
