We are currently looking for a (Senior) Financial Accountant (m/f/d) to strengthen our finance department with profound expertise in the general ledger and all VAT matters.

Your Responsibilities:

As a (Senior) Financial Accountant (m/f/d), you are part of our finance department and work closely with your colleagues and our CFO. As an experienced professional in financial accounting, you will take responsibility for central topics in our team – with a clear focus on the general ledger and VAT.

Your daily to-dos primarily include the following tasks:

• You manage the general ledger, including the reconciliation of all G/L accounts and fixed asset accounting.
• You prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB (German Commercial Code) and create and book accruals and deferrals.
• You keep an eye on the company's liquidity management together with our CFO and the Finance Team Lead, which includes payment runs, cash forecasts, and possibly bank communication.
• You prepare the VAT pre-declarations, recapitulative statements, and the annual VAT return in coordination with our tax office and reconcile them.
• You review and assess VAT-related issues, e.g., intra-community supplies, exports, chain transactions, and distance selling via the OSS procedure.
• You support the implementation of the e-invoicing obligation and ensure VAT compliance in our processes and systems.
• You act as a point of contact for tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities, including for VAT special audits and company audits.
• You support our accounts payable/receivable accounting during bottlenecks and take over ongoing bookings in day-to-day business.
• You prepare reports and statistics for your stakeholders in management.
• Additionally, you actively drive the introduction of new and the improvement of our current processes, e.g., the integration of AI tools in financial accounting.

Your Profile:

As our ideal candidate, you bring the following skills and competencies:

• You have completed vocational training as a tax assistant / tax clerk (m/f/d) or a qualification as a financial accountant (m/f/d) – ideally, you have also completed further training as a certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter) (m/f/d).
• You have at least 5 years of professional experience in financial accounting, ideally some of which you gained in a tax firm.
• You have profound knowledge of general ledger accounting and in preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
• You have very good knowledge of VAT law – national and cross-border issues are not new to you.
• You are proficient in using tools like Datev and Excel, and AI tools like Claude.
• You work independently, structured, and carefully, approach things proactively, and actively contribute to the improvement and introduction of processes.
• Fluent German and English language skills round off your profile.
