Atlas Partners is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for our client in the SE Melbourne suburbs. This is a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, and annual budgeting. This is a hands-on, high-visibility position that blends technical financial reporting with commercial insight, mentoring, and process improvement.

Working within a high-performing finance team, you’ll partner closely with senior leaders, the Commercial Finance team, and broader internal stakeholders. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and value-add analysis to support strategic business decisions, while also helping uplift systems and capability across the function.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and deliver the month-end accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts
  • Prepare and present month-end management accounts, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets, including variance analysis and clear commentary for stakeholders
  • Oversee and contribute to monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Provide commercial analysis and interpret results to identify improvement opportunities and recommend remedial actions
  • Partner with the Finance Manager to support monthly Business Performance Reports
  • Identify, instigate, and implement process improvement initiatives, including technology enhancements and best-practice reporting approaches
  • Assist in the annual budget and rolling forecast cycles, helping ensure robust assumptions and aligned stakeholder inputs
  • Coach and mentor junior finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development
About you:
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in accounting/finance roles, ideally with Big 4 and/or large corporate reporting exposure
  • Degree-qualified in Accounting/Finance and CA/CPA qualified
  • Strong technical financial reporting skills and deep understanding of management accounting disciplines
  • Advanced Excel capability and confident working across large datasets and reconciliations
  • Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, explain complex financial matters clearly, and influence outcomes
  • Proactive, resilient, and improvement-minded comfortable managing competing priorities under pressure
  • Highly analytical, detail-focused, and commercially oriented
