Senior Facilities Hygiene Manager

Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Facilities Hygiene Manager to oversee sanitation and hygiene operations across multiple sites in and around **Randburg, Gauteng**. This critical hybrid role demands a strategic approach to maintaining impeccable hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, and managing a team of cleaning professionals. You will balance on-site presence for critical inspections and team engagement with remote administrative and planning tasks. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of cleaning science, advanced disinfection techniques, waste management, and pest control strategies, particularly within large-scale facilities. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to innovate and implement efficient hygiene solutions are paramount. Your expertise will ensure a safe, clean, and compliant environment for employees and visitors.

Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive hygiene and sanitation programs for diverse facilities. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Manage, train, and mentor cleaning staff and supervisors, fostering a culture of excellence. Oversee the procurement, storage, and safe use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies. Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization. Investigate hygiene-related incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes in hygiene management. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., facilities management, HR, operations) to integrate hygiene protocols. Prepare detailed reports on hygiene performance, compliance status, and improvement initiatives. Lead and champion health and safety initiatives within the cleaning and sanitation teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in facilities hygiene and sanitation management.
• Proven experience managing large teams and complex cleaning operations.
• In-depth knowledge of cleaning science, chemical safety, pest control, and waste management.
• Strong understanding of relevant South African health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in facilities management software and standard office applications.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, managing time across remote and on-site duties.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Professional certifications in hygiene or facilities management are highly desirable.
