Senior Engineer – Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Safety)

Salary: Competitive What you’ll be doing: Develop, implement and maintain the Safety Management System Support the production of Project Safety Management Plans Undertake Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management and assessment activities Support construction of the Project Product Safety Case / Demonstration of Compliance (DoC) and related activities including development and maintenance of product safety documentation for projects in accordance with relevant standards. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, national and international standards and company procedures. Provide product safety support to projects, including the provision of advice and guidance to project teams, and participation in project reviews. Represent the company at product safety related meetings, and with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and customers. Support the development and implementation of product safety training programs. Mentor and coach junior engineers. To be successful in this role you’ll have: Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering). Proven experience in product safety engineering, including hazard identification, risk assessment and management. Knowledge of relevant product safety standards and legislation (e.g. Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive). Experience in the development and maintenance of product safety documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable: Chartered Engineer status. Experience of working in the defence or aerospace industry. Experience of working with safety critical systems.
