Senior Designer (m/w/d) Focus Editorial, Corporate Communication and Digital Media

The Allgemeine Bauzeitung (ABZ) has been standing for independent specialized journalism in the construction industry for decades. As part of the further development of our media offerings, we are looking for reinforcement for the position Senior Designer (m/w/d).

You bring experience, a secure design eye and enthusiasm to implement our print and digital products cleanly, reliably and with much feeling for details.

You will work securely with existing design templates, develop them as needed and ensure that our media products appear professionally, consistently and high-quality.

We value a good sense of layout, typography and editorial content, as well as structured, independent working methods.

Tasks

• Responsibility for the design and implementation of all design topics within the publishing house.
• Creation and further development of layouts for print and digital media based on existing design systems
• Design of own ads, social media assets, presentations and communication materials for events
• Surety of consistent application of templates, design guidelines and corporate design specifications
• Factual quality control regarding layout, typography, image language, formats and visual consistency
• Creation of printable print data and coordination of the printing process and handover to the printer
• Collaboration with internal teams and coordination of external design support.

Qualification

• Multiple years of professional experience in graphic design, media design or communication design, ideally in a senior role
• Very secure handling of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop; additional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud is advantageous
• Good knowledge of Figma
• Safe and routine handling of KI-based tools like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude to support creative, conceptual and production processes
• Outstanding understanding of design systems, templates and corporate design
• High quality standards and a secure sense of typography, layout and visual design
• Structured, independent and reliable working methods
• Experience in creating printable data and handling printing processes
• Communication strength and experience in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
