Senior Design Engineer (m/f/d) Electrical Contacts

Our client is an internationally active technology company and operates an established development site in Germany for innovative solutions in the field of electrical and electronic connection technology. At this site, products and components are developed from the initial idea through design and testing to series readiness. To strengthen the development team, we are looking for a Senior Design Engineer (m/f/d) – Electrical Contacts for the site in the Bergisches Land region as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

In this central role, you will be responsible for the constructive development and technical support of electrical contact parts and terminals from the concept phase to series readiness. You will work closely with internal departments, customers, and suppliers, taking into account both the requirements for electrical contacting and for stamping and forming processes.

• Develop and design contact parts, terminals, and comparable metallic components for electrical connectors
• Define technical requirements and coordinate solutions with customers, suppliers, and internal departments
• Develop and evaluate component geometries and concepts, considering contacting, function, tolerances, material, and manufacturability
• Accompany the design process from the concept phase through prototypes and testing to series readiness
• Evaluate existing and new design solutions, and conduct or accompany feasibility, tolerance, and design analyses
• Coordinate and evaluate measurements, experiments, and functional tests, and derive necessary optimizations
• Create and maintain 3D models, technical drawings, and design-related documentation, including change and release processes

Qualifications

• Completed technical degree, e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical qualification
• Several years of relevant professional experience in design or design engineering in the field of electrical contacts, terminals, connectors, or comparable precision stamped parts
• Experience in the development and design of metallic contact and connection elements
• Alternatively: Several years of experience in the development of stamped parts or stamping dies, ideally with a focus on terminal design for electrical connectors
• Sound knowledge of a common 3D CAD system, ideally CATIA V5
• Experience in the design of components regarding electrical contacting, mechanical function, tolerances, and manufacturability
• Understanding of component development from the concept phase to series readiness, as well as the associated change and release processes
• Knowledge of relevant technical standards, guidelines, and requirements in the field of electrical connections and connector systems is an advantage
• Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work
• Good communication and presentation skills, as well as enjoyment of collaboration with internal and external partners
