Senior Design Engineer – Electric Motors (Electromagnetics)

Job Title: Senior Design Engineer – Electric Motors (Electromagnetics) Location: Hyderabad, India Job Type: Full-Time About The Role You will own the electromagnetic architecture of high-performance propulsion systems at Vector Technics. This is a first-principles engineering role focused on pushing the limits of power density, efficiency, and reliability. You are responsible for the full design cycle—from analytical sizing and JMAG simulations to correlating FEA data with physical dynamometer testing. Your work will involve developing and implementing novel electromagnetic designs that meet or exceed performance requirements. This includes designing and optimizing electric motor topologies, as well as integrating them into overall system architectures. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and test engineers to ensure seamless integration of your designs. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement novel electromagnetic designs for high-performance propulsion systems • Design and optimize electric motor topologies for maximum efficiency and reliability • Integrate electric motors into overall system architectures, considering thermal, electrical, and mechanical constraints • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of designs • Conduct JMAG simulations and FEA data correlation with physical dynamometer testing • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including schematics, drawings, and reports. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field • 5+ years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on electromagnetic systems • Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles and simulation tools (JMAG, FEA) • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Ability to work effectively in a team environment • Strong communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field • 8+ years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on electromagnetic systems • Experience with electric motor design and optimization using FEA and CFD tools • Knowledge of thermal management and cooling systems for high-power electronics • Familiarity with industry-standard simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) • Certification in a relevant field (e.g., IEEE, ASME).
